Audio not working, I want to kill everyone at Realtek

After a Windows update I no longer have sound. I am unable to use system recovery as no checkpoints were made. I have tried reinstalling audio drivers. It says drivers are installed and are working. This is not true. I have tried reinstalling chipset drivers, BIOS drivers and the works. Nothing.
In control panel>sound and audio devices I have no audio devices there but the drivers are there, "Working properly" and enabled.
The only thing I hear for sound is my mic, when I blow into it, i hear the staticy feedback, my headset is working. I have 2 harddrives on my computer and one of them has another version of XP on it. I booted off that and the sound works on that one, so obviously some setting is different, And I know that I am able to have sound on this computer. But due to setting changes after a Windows update it doesn't work.
My audio drivers are Realtek High Definition Audio. The shittiest things that ever existed. Everyone who has these drivers always has problems with getting them to run.
I noticed that I have files in my C:\WINDOWS that I know used to run to make the sound drivers work, but even when I uninstall the drivers and reinstall, the processes that I know that used to be there, don't run anymore. wtf
Any help is appreciated.

Select HD Audio codecs, agree, then choose the download you need.

I've tried installing/uninstalling it like 4 times, I will try it one more time.
Edit: So that still did not work, I uninstalled the driver, then installed the drivers, then I rebooted, and when I logged in, it said it found new hardware, my audio chip. And idk what to do, i've tried everything.
So, you go into the device manager, select the audio chip, goto its properties and update its driver and still nothing?

Try uninstalling it in the device manager and restarting and trying the drivers again.
Ok so I already did all that stuff Shadez, didn't work.
But I fixed it!!!
So this problem happened after a windows update, so im like, fuck it, uninstall Service Pack 3 and reinstall sound drivers and reinstalled kb888111xpsp2.exe (a microsoft sound driver), And now it works!
