First of all, I don't know much about networking but I have a question. I have two pc's. The one I'm currently using has Vista installed and is connected to the internet. The second one is a pc with XP installed that I would like to experiment with through remote acces because the other pc has no screen, I just have the tower. How can I do this or is this impossible?
install VNC server on the computer without a screen (by moving your current screen over and using it temporarily), then on your computer install the VNC viewer (after moving your screen back). Make sure you connect your other computer to your router/switch that the other computer is plugged into
then from your vista computer just type in the name of the other computer, eg "xpcomputer" or what ever its called (to find out if you dont know, right click my computer -> manage -> computer name tab)
should be able to VNC into it without a screen

Can't I just connect them with an ethernet cable or something?
You can't remote control something using an Ethernet cable.

But of course you still need a connection between the two computers.
