(CNN)Ted Cruz is first out the gate.
The first-term senator from Texas will announce that he's running for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the Houston Chronicle. He will make his official declaration Monday in Lynchburg, Virginia at Liberty University, the largest Christian university in the world.
Cruz, 44, will be the first candidate to formally throw his hat in the ring for what's expected to be a crowded GOP primary, with more than a dozen high-profile Republicans expressing serious interest in a White House run.

Good luck trying to win declaring it from a place named Lynchburg.

be careful what you wish for
Ugh. There is literally nobody on the Republican side for next year that isn't a total fucking nightmare.
Anyone else notice how the entire republican field is either one-term governors or one-term senators vying for the nomination, with each brandishing their own special recipe of rotten concervatism
Also how come cruize who has the exact same circumstances of his birth doesn't have to deal with any of the non-american-born bullshit Obama had to, they're both born outside the countries to non american fathers and american mothers but because ones republican he gets a pass while the other gets barrated for years about it even though the law is pretty fucking clear that he's an american

The republican field has been the same bunch the past three elections.
"An informed American voter"
You want Hillary to win?
If he's announcing that he's going to be announcing, doesn't that just count as announcing it in the first place?

These are the same people that say they're not a scientist while ignoring actual scientists advice
As a permanent resident, I'm glad that I'm potentially leaving this country and not having to deal with the no-win political environment (I might get dual citizenship though). At least at home, there's a good chance Stephen Harper is going to get kicked out, and I can actually vote for that to happen.
Anyone but Hillary, please.
I think either Clinton could run tomorrow and win.
The Republicans keep putting far right loons forward in a country that has matured incredibly over the last 8 years. Say what you want about Obama, but the U.S. elected a black president. Twice. What must happen for Ted Cruz to get in?

Well Cruz isn't black, therefor Muslim. It's only a Threat to Freedom if the candidate doesn't meet the traditional requirements: white, old, rich, and Christian.
I'd take Hillary over Cruz any day of the week.
I'd take Hillary over Cruz any day of the week.
I'd take a hard kick to the crotch over Cruz. There have been a handful of Republican candidates who didn't piss all over my political sensibilities, but Cruz is definitely not one of them. He represents everything old fashioned and out of touch with the Right. Damn near the only Conservative candidate I'd rather see less than Cruz is Jeb Bush, and that is largely because I find it offensive how that family considers itself to have a blood right to the presidential office. Three Bush's in the White House would be a horrifying thing to have to explain to future generations.
The most disappointing thing of all is that it is extremely likely that the GOP will actually win in 2016. They have spent Obama's entire presidency sabotaging the country at every possible corner, and have been blatantly obvious about that, but have still managed to pass off the blame for that to the president in the eyes of the swing voters. How's that for a magic trick?
The GOP may have the upper hand right now headed into 2016 but I feel like Clinton is the clear front runner of the entire race because of her notoriety. What would be really cool is if there was another democratic contender to go against Clinton, leveling the field. #Gore2016. Plus, Americans have a bad habit of informing themselves through "glass half empty" media sources which focus on the negative aspects of the last 8 years. I can really only hope the campaign trail forces to light the many accomplishments of the Obama administration. Instead of having an ideal candidate, all I really want is the public to be informed and involved.
No matter which party wins, the American people still lose. We vote for the shiniest of two turds
That's because we've adopted this naive two party system that only serves to divide the people. I Fucking hate it when people already know who they're voting for before they even know who they're voting for.

Fun fact: Ted Cruz' father fought for Fidel Castro in the revolution, but decided that was actually a terrible idea and fled.

Hahahaha. Yeah, right.
The Obama administration didn't fix the country, it just stoked a huge wave of racism and paranoia.

Except the voters have repeatedly proven over several elections that they don't like Hillary Clinton, and believe her to be a power-hungry vindictive bitch that will do anything to win. There's a reason she was never able to win a Democratic primary. Besides, the whole Clinton family has enough dirt accumulated over the years to fill three election cycles.
Another fun fact: The Obama birther thing was started by Clinton supporters to try and help her campaign, but fringe Republicans ran with it.

I might consider leaving as well someday. Where are you going?

Fits Cruz perfectly, the only thing missing are his matching reverse swastikas and baby jesus cufflinks.
Guy's grade-A fuckstick and posterboy for Everything That Is Wrong With Republicant's.
His family also has a history of backing really terrible people for office.

That's what happens when only the people who have grudges or chemical imbalances vote, which is pretty much what happened last time. People are completely numb to the idiocy in both parties and there's plenty bipartisan fuckstickery to go around.
isn't he canadian
Vote for me.
Well, if "Sunday at 11:09 PM CDT" counts as "Monday", then yep, he just did: https://twitter.com/tedcruz/status/579857596191899648/

Obama hadn't even completed his first term before running for President.

Would have been 12:09 AM in Virginia, thereby Monday.

As much as I appreciated the dumbs, my point was not that Cruz is better than Hillary. I sincerely doubt that Cruz will secure the nomination. Practically anyone but Cruz would be a better choice than Hillary.
I support Martin O'Malley, personally.
