Rescuers are searching the cabin of the ship, which was righted on Friday, looking for more bodies, the official People’s Daily, wrote on its microblog. Jiang Zhao, general manager of the company which operated the Eastern Star, bowed in apology for the disaster during an interview with state media reported late on Friday, saying they would "fully" cooperate with the investigation. Beijing has pledged there would be "no cover-up" in the probe. Police have detained the captain and chief engineer for questioning. An initial investigation found the ship was not overloaded and had enough life vests on board. More than 1,000 family members have come to Jianli in the central province of Hubei, where the ship went down, with many expressing frustration at a lack of information from the government. I'm sad that this isn't getting as much coverage in the news.
If the ship got flipped by a surprise tornado on a river while everyone was asleep it sounds to me like there wasn't much that the crew could have done.
That title, only 14 people survived when the death toll was 331 of 456? What?
That title, only 14 people survived when the death toll was 331 of 456? What?
the rest are missing. so far, only 14 have survived, the rest are missing or passed away.
That title, only 14 people survived when the death toll was 331 of 456? What?
Usually people read more than the title before posting. Also that image looks way to eerie. Hope they find the missing people.
ahhhhh how fucked up it must be to find all those bodies. I mean, what? Do they still get rigor mortis or not? Open eyes, drowned, in their cabins....ugh. Come think about it, the CIA guys who salvaged that sunk soviet sub must have also been through the same stuff....
That picture looks so fucking grim. I'm sad that this isn't getting as much coverage in the news.
I went to cnn.com and it's the same picture and this is the major headline for the front page of the website. Not to say you're wrong, but to show you that this is getting coverage.
jesus christ thats really fucking horrifying, i feel terrible for those family members imagine being on the ship when it happened :(
Imagine being on of the fourteen, talk about survivor's guilt.

"When the diver reached up to grab the hand, the hand grabbed the diver." Well, there goes another casualty...poor diver.
Death toll now at 396 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-06/china-ferry-disaster-death-toll-rises-to-396/6527094
Honestly I feel drowning is the worst way to go. That must be such a horrible feeling.
Honestly I feel drowning is the worst way to go. That must be such a horrible feeling.
It hurts like hell when your lungs fill with water, but after a while you start feeling really comfortable and you just slip away peacefully. Or so people who almost drowned say. It's a strange mix of panic and extreme pain at the start that turns to absolute peace soon after.
That title, only 14 people survived when the death toll was 331 of 456? What?
Basically, reading the article is the key to understanding what's going on in the story.
Honestly I feel drowning is the worst way to go. That must be such a horrible feeling.
I almost drowned at the age of three or four, in my experience you don't even realize it. At first you feel like you are struggling to breathe, but at the last moments you just make peace with yourself, and realize that it's pretty much over. It's a really odd moment of tranquility, and if I were to try to label it any sort of way, it feels like your on a really good high from opiates and xanax. You are restless, slightly euphoric, and just happy you lived to that point. Probably oxygen deprecation and your body shutting off. Not sure really. All I remember from my incident was that at the last moments before I closed my eyes, I could see an old women in a colonial dress lift me from the water, and I woke up about ten minutes later just floating near the stairsteps of the pool. Pretty wicked experience to be honest with you. After that I was traumatized by deep water, and didn't swim again until I was about 11.
