Former Vancouver bank exec jailed for possession of child porn

[release]VANCOUVER (CBC) - A former Vancouver bank executive was sentenced to four months in jail Friday after pleading guilty to possessing more than 1,000 images and videos of child pornography.
Jack Ernest Crone was charged last February after police seized the material from a computer at his home in the exclusive British Properties neighbourhood of West Vancouver and from his office at RBC Dominion Securities.
Crone's lawyer told reporters after the sentencing that he believes his client will overcome the ordeal that has sent him to prison, but that it will be difficult. "He's lost the support and friendship and love of a good part of his family. He's been shamed," Richard Peck said.
The court was told prior to sentencing that Crone had lost his $600,000-a-year job, his marriage has broken down and he has been shunned by five of his seven children.
The judge said during sentencing that he had taken into account Crone's fall from grace but said that people who seek out child pornography help create a market for it, and that child abuse was involved in its production. The judge said he found it difficult to accept that any reasonable adult could still believe that child pornography is a victimless crime.
Crone's lawyer said the material is too freely available on the internet.
"I think at some point some group, some government organization has got to regulate the internet to a much greater extent than it currently is," Peck said.
In addition to his jail sentence, Crone was placed on probation for two years and was prohibited from future contact with persons other than his grandchildren.[/release]

Jesus, 1,000 images? I mean I kind of feel bad for him. Losing a high paying job, any respect hes earned, and all support from family.
Then again :3:

I would, without a doubt, stop using the internet. Well maybe not, that'd be kind of hard to give up. But I'd find new and better ways.
Besides suicide :words::words::words::words:

If this happens the internet will have to declare war on the providers.
We'd have to bring back that "Could FP take over a small nation" thread.

I wonder. If you, theoretically, get the package that includes Google, what would be the point? The ISPs would decide which websites you can visit, right? So searching something on Google would bring up no results - or results that you can't utilize.

I can see that happening at some point. Those greedy bastards will have their way with the internet.
At least the freaking pages will load quicker... but - what porn would there be to load?

Ummm FOUR MONTHS in jail? Seriously?

What do you mean by that?
Do you wish he would stay in longer or are you saying he should be jailed for a shorter time?
I myself think you shouldn't go to jail for child porn at all, just get your computer revoked, and a fine. I don't see how possessing it harms kids, it's the film makers that should be jailed.

By buying CP you keep the money flowing to the filmmakers and support them by buying them fuel to drive their rape van.

with 600,000 a year you could buy 10 hookers a day every day
why do you need pics of child porn
Ummm FOUR MONTHS in jail? Seriously?
That struck me as odd too. Until I remembered that he was a bank exec.
I mean he should be sentenced for much longer.
No he shouldn't, he never harmed anyone.
No he shouldn't, he never harmed anyone.
You're right.
He has videos of that for him.

Who the hell buys porn, especially cp?

what would be the point in being a blogger if only people who purchase the package to allow them to blog could read it?

There's too much money in the internet for them to do that
If that ever happened, billions would be lost
Who the hell buys porn, especially cp?
Crazy people do. It's no surprise his wife left him because of it.

Not to mention the trillions of dollars worth of equipment that would be instantly obsoleted and discarded.
That also means entire company's will collapse causing a depression.
Yeah, that's not gonna happen. It's like suicide.
