- Since no one knows how to drop something and move on... The point has been made. The problem that I started had been fixed. I apologized.
just taking other people's stuff and putting them up for sale on redbubble, even when doing certain "modifications", is really low and awful and terrible and you should feel ashamed. also, that "weapon of choice" design was a t-shirt design to begin with. what do you have to say to that.
Honestly, I wouldn't care if you just wanted to make these to buy for yourself, but like jens said, you didn't create any of them. You just took an image, and cropped it. You didn't even credit the artists.
-
You should never make a profit of work you didn't make yourself. What about the people that actually made the artwork? do you think they would approve of you just pasting it into shirts and then selling it?
-
All of them, because all logos are made by an artist. You didn't actually do any work on them besides [del]cropping them[/del] oh sorry, I mean general improvements. If you actually, well, drew the artwork yourself, it wouldn't be an issue. Just doing "general improvements" is not justification for stealing what other people have made for profit.
oh wow resize and adjust colors, what a workload!
-
most people here make their own artwork/logos/graphic design from scratch and then sell it, how do you think we feel when a little kid comes in and decides to skip the actual making of the artwork and go straight for selling other creative works? this is not about actually earning money, it's about the fact that you are selling someone elses work for potential profit

yes for not thumbing those images
yes for not thumbing those images
Don't judge me...
dude anyone can edit some pictures.
-
yeah no mate, I don't draw ponies.
-
Whether you like it or not it's unethical and completely wrong in general Barely being legally eligible and other people doing the same thing doesn't change that
It has all been settled. I turned down the profits I earn from the shirts to 0%. The only ones I kept at 20% profit were my Shenmue logo, the Code Monkeys (Dave) shirt and Poopy Joe. Is there anything wrong with that? [editline]14th July 2012[/editline] And I'm not going to remove the products or make them private, I've had plenty of people on other forums say they like the shirts and posters.
Guess what, if anybody buys any of those things, then the artist won't get the money they deserve. Way to go kid, you stole designs and expected a pat in the back from us? Wow.
Does it... ...look like... ...I'm earning a profit here? You guys act like I didn't already think of copyrights and creative commons. I'm not trying to be the wily, money-grubbin' thief from the internets here. I mean hell... why are you getting mad at me? Why not get mad at probably half of RedBubble. You honestly can't believe that every single user on RedBubble has only submitted and earned profit off of 100% of their own stuff. Do a quick search and you'll find the same ideas and logos and templates everywhere. I'm not saying there aren't people who make their own stuff and earn a good profit, it's just that it's there and it's a thing. I'm not condoning it, but you guys on here jump at the first guy who does a bit wrong and it's a bit daunting. EDIT: Yes, I'm earning a profit from the stuff I know I did well enough effort into to call my own (and will give credit to the original).
and what if the artists who created this stuff want to sell their artwork on shirts for a profit, but instead they're buying your shirts because they're cheaper? you're awful dude [editline]15th July 2012[/editline] you should be creating these designs entirely from scratch or not using them at all, you're just stealing people's shit and resizing it and claiming "you've done the work to make it your own". in reality you're just a thief and i sincerely hope redbubble bans you for it.
Hey guy. Fuck off. I removed all of the stuff by artists, or made it private to me. The only things I have left are the video game and tv show things that are direct logos or characters straight from the game. Let me guess... there's something wrong with that too? http://www.redbubble.com/people/countlatchula/portfolio You guys attack somebody at the smallest hint of a mistake.
yeah there actually is something wrong with that, all those logos/characters are copyrighted and you've made no changes to it to justify it as your own work. you've just copied and pasted copyrighted work from big companies and pretended its all good because even though the art isn't yours, it's not from an independent artist so clearly it doesn't matter. if you're really 17 i feel legitimately bad for you

copyright issues can't be dropped with a please and a thank you. And no, we are not all lawyers, we just don't like to see a good artist's work taken, "modified" and then profited from.
jesus, this is almost as bad as the mirrors edge "measuring" thing. how can you consider yourself an artist and a decent human being when you take images and icons created by others, and slap them haphazardly on a shirt? i mean, fuck sake, i dont even feel very right when i draw from a reference image I didnt take myself. to be an artist, you need to create art, not copy and paste it. and it doesn't take a self-proclaimed lawyer to realize that what you were doing was a low move. i had a brief stint in shirt making, and i only used my own references and art when it came to the final product. what made it special was that it was ME and no one else that put the work in to it. it was a pride in the work that is what made it special. but instead of that, you bypassed the whole idea of "work" and went with "resize, colorize, profit." thats the problem with people today. we slap rage faces and other bullshit on shirts and games, deem it as our own work and worthy of profit, and somehow find a way to sleep soundly at night while trying to ignore the fact that we leach off other's images and the reputation that was built up with those images. its goddamn lazy.

I TOTALLY meant to press "agree" but I was thinking how dumb the OP is... crap.. That'll teach me to give out ratings when im tired lol.. EDIT: Did NOT know you could change your rating.. and it is ironic that FP calls me a loser for trying to give myself a box :P Anyways, I cannot believe there are people this stupid. I agree with everyone in this thread, except OP of course.
I've removed the sword one entirely. I'm going to look for the guy who made the pokemon picture and ask for his permission to use it and if he does I'll credit him, if not I'll remove it. The elements thing, idk... that wallpaper is on hundreds of websites, finding the original artist would be a pain. I'll make it private because I want that poster. Tanooki suit Mario should be fine, because it's recolor of what appears to be a stock image of Mario. Is using Mario bad too? Is it bad that nintendo won't get their $20? Poopy Joe is kickass, he stays. Jet Set Radio Future logo. It's a cult game nowadays, and it's fans (me) are just looking for some way to show that we love it. Is it bad to have a t shirt of your favorite game? Gameavision logos, they're staying. 1. kinda like the above, it's a cult tv show with no merch 2. It's a bunch of blocks, that doesn't take an artistic genius to make Shenmue logo? Exact same reason as JSRF. And why do you guys immediately suspect shit from me? "you expect a pat on the back from us"... no I fucking don't. What I expect from you is more replies like yours, being an ass to me for no reason. Everyone on here is an asshole just because. One person. ONE SINGLE PERSON, at the start of this thread, could of nicely been like "Hey, you should get the original artists' permission or give them credit or something. If not, I'd remove them." and I would of done exactly that. But no, everyone's an asshole because everyone assumes everyone else is an asshole and everyone likes to argue with assholes because they like being assholes to assholes. (that last bit made me think of the board game Apples to Apples and the speech from Team America in all but 10 seconds) I'm sorry for all my language and stupid shit, I'm just getting tired of everyone assuming that everyone's a bad person and only wants to do bad. Just earlier today I was trying to post a little re-edit I did of a song on reddit and some moderator went off on me, calling me a dumb fuck saying I was taking full credit for it when I repeatedly stated I took no credit for the song, because it was just an extended edit of a good intro. Fuck. Everything. Man. And whoever called me a little kid earlier, to clarify I'm 17 about to be a Senior, has a girlfriend and works as a private contractor with my father... I'm far from a little kid. Please, "little kid" insults only work none of the time on most (smart) people.
Just because Poopy Joe is "Kickass" the original artist doesn't deserve his money?
The fact you left the Shenmue one with profit and a couple of others is bad enough. You could get sued for copyright infringement, even if you redrew them COMPLETELY from scratch, that logo was part of a company saga and franchies at one point. So you can not profit or even sell these at all without prior consent.
