• Buying a new joystick, what do you recommend?

I've had this Logitech Freedom 2.4 joystick for 7-8 years now and it's a bit worn down, everything but the rudder works fine, it's very twitchy. So as this one is nolonger good enough, I'm asking you what joystick is worth getting, and which ones to avoid, because i have no idea myself. Any budget range is fine, just post the price of what you're suggesting i should buy.
I got a Saitek x52 a few months ago, it's comfortable and good so I'd recommend it, though keep in mind that I have never had/tried another joystick ever. I've only played real flight simulators (Falcon 4.0, DCS: A-10C) with it, no "casual" flight games, it works perfectly. If I recall correctly, you're swedish (since I can't see the country icon in your post), so it costs 1000 SEK in Sweden.

I got mine for $30 at Best Buy which is a great price in my opinion. I mainly use it in Battlefield games but I've used it in simulators as well and it's fine. Programmable keys are good too.
The Saitek X52 is pretty great, it's comfortable to use and has something like 20 buttons, not counting the 6 different modes it can be switched to if you program. But it's somewhat expensive and bulky. The standard X52 is 100$ and well worth the cost. The Pro is like 200$, but it's pretty much the same except with some more functions on the display. I used to use my X52 all the time for Flight Simulator and space combat games. Only thing I don't like about the X52 is that sometimes configuring it is a pain in the ass, since most games don't support more than 10 joystick buttons. I heard the Saitek Cyborg is great too, reliable and fairly cheap at 50$

The logitech ones aren't that great, profan plays a lot of ARMA / IL-2 and I think he's going to want something a bit better, I'd say a saitek at your budget is. They seem to make great products.

I would suggest if you go with the X52 that you get the X52 pro, its a bit better built, a bit sturdier, and the screen on it is far more usable because it can be programed to display different things, the only problem is that saitek's profiling software and drivers are far from the best, not as bad as some drivers I've seen but still
How much does the X52 generally go for? oh i missed the first post mentioning it, 1000 sek yikes If it seems to be a bit too much for not so much, i might just buy another freedom 2.4
I have a Microsoft Sidewinder or something back from when USB was the new, cool kid on the block and all the peripherals started using it. It still works great.
I have a Microsoft Sidewinder or something back from when USB was the new, cool kid on the block and all the peripherals started using it. It still works great.
The Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 is brilliant. Very little dead zone, probably the best FF joystick ever made, and still great when you aren't using force feedback. Unfortunately they can be quite expensive. I bought mine new in 2001 for $80 I think, and a decade later it hasn't dropped in value. It also might be the most indestructible joystick ever. Mine's been dropped or knocked off my desk quite a few times over the years, and still doesn't have a scratch on it. Not sure how easy they are to find in Sweden. Around here they're anywhere from $60 to $150+, depending on if they're still in the box.
Skip saitek/logitech and go straight for quality: I've had a CH setup for a very long time, and it still performs perfectly: http://www.chproducts.com/retail/joysticks.html http://www.chproducts.com/retail/throttles.html
I used a Logitech Attack 3 and its a really good joystick for its really cheap price. Other than that Saitek X52. Or if you want cheaper the Thrustmaster Hotas X is just 1/3 of the price.
Go with Pro if you want an X52. I've had both and the standard one's build quality isn't that great (and the twisting mechanism became self-aware after a year).
From my experience the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is an excellent budget stick, but it's still a budget stick. I'm sure you won't regret splurging on a high-tier stick like the X52.
I loved this but sadly it now shifts to the right in flight sims or any game And after useing a more pro one.. way better
I had this issue. I think I fixed it by reinstalling the drivers, or letting Windows find them, and running through the Windows USB Controller settings again.
I don't know any good ones but I would advice you NOT to buy a Sitek Cyborg evo. It is very uncomfortable and twitchy, plus the spring is way too hard. I guess it is okay for the price but you will get disappointed if you buy one.
I use Extreme 3D Pro, it seems nice in Mechwarrior 4.
I bought one of these for my dad back in 1997 with the new Flight Simulator 1998. Logitech Wingman Force 1. Best joystick I have ever used.
Logitech Wingman 2 is what I have, it's very sturdy, but it's got very few buttons, so it might not be what you're looking for, considering ARMA 2 and IL-2 are games that you play.
The Extreme 3D Pro is a great, basic, and cheap option if you don't mind that it is essentially a certainty that it will go off-center in one way or another, or multiple ways, after about 6 months to a year. Interestingly enough, some can usually ghetto-fix that by unplugging and replugging it in as that somehow changes something to fix/make it worse. Its trial and error really.
As a owned of an X-52 I am slightly disappointed. It's too easy to move and offers little resistance on the stick. The stick's weight isn't even supported by the spring, so if it's not level the stick will tilt and fall over. So it's incredibly annoying to fly after having a really resistive stick. Heard the pro is much much better though, so if you are going with an X-52 get the Pro version.
Don't get a 360 Controller, With 25% Dead zone, They fucking suck.
Huge bump. I bought a T.16000m in the end, it was totally worth it. Best joystick i've bought yet. http://www.thrustmaster.com/product.aspx?ProductID=153
my saitek x52 broke on me after a year
my saitek x52 broke on me after a year
I recommend you get the one I bought, it may not have a super high tech throttle but it's very accurate and quite cheap
