I've got an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz, with a Radeon HD 4780, 4 gigs of ram and Vista 64bit. I really have no idea about it, but it's not on my local market anymore. Should I upgrade the CPU?
You're running a Q9450 with that setup? You don't need to upgrade that!
I don't see a reason to upgrade your CPU, unless you want an i7

which would require a new mobo and new RAM if he wants to get the most out of it.
"get the most out of it"?
unless you mean "not have it sit doing nothing"
no, overclock it!

Just because something isn't on your local market anymore, it doesn't mean you need an upgrade. That's an excellent spec - so stick with it!
If you feel the need to get an upgrade, consider giving the old parts to the OP of this thread: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=816990

He won't give out his information, or something like that.
But I'll have it :)
Well, I recently got a HD4870 replacing my 9800 GX2. I've never been sure which is better, and if the HD4870 isn't much of a step down from a HD4890. Anyone have any answers?
Jees, you went from a power ful card to a slightly more powerful card? how much money are you wasting?!
You should be upgrading at a minimum of every 6-9 months if you want the latest tech, though normally you go a year or two before upgrading.

I had to get a new card, the old one fucked up. It sucks, I know. I got the computer about a year ago, this is the only part I've replaced since.
Ha, I still have an e6600 and I plan on pushing the damn thing as far as it'll go. The rest of my rig is similar to yours, so I'm definitely starting to bottleneck.
You're fine.
I'll take that processor.
overclock overclock overclock overclock
seriously overclock the fucker
What would you recommend me to overclock it to? And what would I use to do it?
Your setup is great, just stick with it.
If you want an i7 you would need to replace your motherboard if you want it to pull the power it has within.
