So i was given this very tentative list by a Redditor http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/FJMB However, i've allready got HDD's and feel like i can skip the monitor for now, so i was wondering what you guys would consider upgrades with that extra ~£300. I'm looking to play Planetside 2 flawlessly as possible (which is stupidly CPU capped atm.)
-Get a higer wattage PSU, 550W is low if you ever want to CF. (650W/700w+) -The mobo is a nice find, Z75 allows overclocking and the only real downside compared to the Z77 is lack of three way SLI and SSD caching support. -Im worried about the quality of that SSD. Get a Crucial, Intel or Samsung please. There are plenty of guides online that help you find one without cheap NAND memory.
Or a Kingston for the ssd.
apart from the SSD brand, if you're looking at leaving the monitor out for a while then why not go for a GTX 670 scan.co.uk do them from £285 and benchmark side of it it kicks the 7950's ass. and if you are looking at overclocking your pc alot then id recommend a H2O 620 or H2O 920 sealed water cooler there really easy to install and work brilliantly for overclocking.
the antec kuhler 620 and 920 are trash closed loops with pump issues and loud fans, and honestly you have no fucking clue what you're talking about with graphics cards. the 7950 can easily keep up with a 670 in most games while being $80 cheaper, they're not even in the same price bracket.
the 670 out does the 7950 on every benchmark making it better and yes more expensive but still wouldnt be killing his budget, also i have the 620 with the stock fan and its silent, also "pump issue" ive had it for over a year now and never had a problem with it at all. once again like i said, he is not thinking of getting the monitor which leaves him with more money to spend on a BETTER gpu
out does it on every benchmark my ass http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/550?vs=598 you give bad advice, just do us a favor and leave pc building. don't forget to take your fanboyism with you. [editline]26th February 2013[/editline] oh and btw performance has gone up by a ton for the 7xxx cards since these benchmarks were done
Well as I said its a better card, it was a push to say it beats all types of games but on that link out of just over 60 tests it beats the 7950 over 45 times..... Once again I am not giving bad advise you just simple dislike being wrong, after all the I simple gave an idea of a factually better card, you just wasted you own time. Oh and no thanks il keep to building pc's and I don't need to be a douche about it, also I'm not sure what you mean by "fanboyism" but all I was doing if offering good simple advise you are just pointlessly wrecking this dudes thread.

Second: The 670 is a good card, but almost matches the 7950 in gaming performance which is 100$ cheaper. Besides it being way cheaper for about the same performance recent driver updates have increased it performance even more. Thinkin about it, you could actually get a 7970 for the price of a 670 which will blow the 670 out of the water.

The 670 is priced with the 7970 and the 7970 is a way better all around card. The fact that the 670 ONLY BARELY came out ahead in maybe 1/2 of the non synthetic benchmarks really says a lot about its terrible price/performance ratio compared to a graphics card that is a quarter of the price.
But what about PhysX??!?!? I'm kidding, PhysX is a waste of resources and really kills frame rates.
But what about PhysX??!?!? I'm kidding, PhysX is a waste of resources and really kills frame rates.
on cpu :v:
on cpu :v:
I tried PhysX on my CPU, didn't work out very well.
I tried PhysX on my CPU, didn't work out very well.
Odd, I've been using it on my GPU since 8600GT... Worked perfectly and my friend who had to run it with CPU was jelly when I was playing Mirrors Edge :v:
Euhh, CPU, GPU.
What I meant was it runs horrible on CPU and runs great on GPU without overloading the gpu
