I know there are programs out there that let you write your own music, and play it back What are the best ones, free and paid
Here is the summary of ones I tried: Fl Studio - hard to learn but lots of tutorials - clunky interface but lots of customisable option. No need for a MIDI keyboard - pretty easy to go about without it. Too flashy makes you feel like something you're not.. Reason 4 - Hardcore studio - lots of buttons you wont use, tutorials are more pro-oriented takes ages to learn but provides tonnes of resources to play around with. Ableton Live - Easy to use - little tutorials online, but the program comes with very good tutorials. Simple interface, great for fast navigation. Made for the more casual user but has a tonne of features for sound designers and professionals aswell. The only way to go here is to pay - most versions cost above $100, but all 3 have free trials which are awesome (Especially FL Studio, it's trial only removes the saving feature - as long as you create your song in one session you could just use that..)
More info Casual use only, and preferably easy to use. I can pay, but i would prefer free / cheap Thanks for your post, if nothing else comes up i'll check those out
reaper if you are on a extreme budget just think of it as the poor mans cubase
Yeah I use REAPER too, it's brilliant!
Not so much an extreme budget, more of a just above minimum wage, which for me at the moment is $7.50 I do get nearly $ 18 for a Sunday though [editline]09:20AM[/editline] What instruments do these programs cover, and how easy are they to learn / use. [editline]09:21AM[/editline] And its not like i'm performing anything i write
all instruments, as long as you have the equipment to record them then it shouldn't be a problem
I get lower than minimum wage, bit because of tips I get about £50 for two days work (Friday and Saturday nights). That's $81.70. What do you do?
i'm looking also for a program what is a good starter program? and does anyone know with what program you can add chords/vocals and instruments (like a orchestra)
I started with FL Studio 7, now I use FL Studio 9 Very nice, love the interface, really smooth and easy to use Lots of support as well
I dont mean a recording program. I mean one where i choose an instrument, choose the notes and it plays it back [editline]12:58PM[/editline] [QUOTE=nos217;18990364]I get lower than minimum wage, bit because of tips I get about £50 for two days work (Friday and Saturday nights). Reason 4 and Ableton Live 7.0.3 are what I use. I love them both.
Ableton Live 8 is a good place to start, once you get the hang of it you'll be able to use most of the software out there. There is a Demo out there that has almost full functionality but without the ability to save your files, so its a great way to see if its the one for you.
