I hope he makes the zombie behavior much more smooth and solid so we're not getting zigzagging freaks with navigation issues
Left 4 Dead common infected springs to mind
They are building so much hype. I'm glad that they are taking their time, but can't they at least tell us if the release is close or not?

no?

It might be that they don't actually know when they're ready to release.
[editline]15th February 2013[/editline]
Also release dates announced during development are usually approximations which seem to have a habit of pissing the community off when they realize they need more time and delay it.
I wonder if it'll be more game-like. Arma's stiffness it the biggest flaw for me, and surely for a lot of people. You can get used to it, but it would be honestly twice as good if it was more friendly to play.

Honestly the entire movement system needs a massive overhaul. Doesn't feel smooth at all.

I love how running around feels like I have a washing machine strapped to my head
They should add an Adam Savage zombie since they have a Jamie Hyneman one already.
I hope they don't make the zombies too fast, it was horrible when one would track you for 5km cause it was the same speed as you.
I like the typical, good old fashioned slow bullet soaker zombie. I never liked the lately more popular fast, crumbly one.

The speed should depend on the gameplay they're aiming for. It was fine with L4D because that was all about the run'n'gun gameplay.
Both have their appropriate situations.
if the radio system uses the mic, id sit in day z all day in some hidden building or bunker and create my own number station.

Having a player/admin send radio messages out to players in their own radio station telling them where to find hidden items and safe houses. Well, something like that.

or perhaps set up a radio station hmmm

It's too bad it takes a lot of slow zombies to make them a threat.
It's too bad it takes a lot of slow zombies to make them a threat.
Or just give them a lot of health and make them a little bit more dangerous. Seriously it takes at least five zombies up close to even damage your health or make you bleed in DayZ, a bullet or two for each and they're all dead. Ten zombies and you might actually have a problem.
If they were slower, or even only walked/crawled, did more damage, and could take more hits, they'd be far more interesting. Most people just run right past them because their navigation is so poor and the final threat is so low that they are negligible.
They don't even need to be in greater numbers but they need to be more relentless. If they walked half as fast as you jogged (which is the final speed for your sprint if you expend all your stamina, by the way) and could soak up half a mag from most guns, that'd be scarier. And just think if they didn't drop out of their "alerted" phase just because you went around a corner, dynamically searching for you in the environment without immediately switching to a slow walk and going in the other direction. Wouldn't that be great?
If you said yes then the question of "are slow zombies good for an action game" is not about their numbers but how smartly they are employed and how much of a threat/how interesting each individual one is. Fighting soldiers isn't fun if they have no personality- why would fighting zombies be any different?

Maybe I am just unlucky but 50% of the time when a zombie hits me I start bleeding. They can corner you pretty fast because once you start shooting at them with an unsilenced weapon you get a full horde on your ass. Shooting them isn't that easy since they have very choppy movements. And once they have broken your bones or you passed out you're fucked.

Having the ability to play songs streamed from YouTube or something would be cool.
Just get the link to a song and then put it into the radio station.
I hope they fix the server system so that people cannot cheat themselves the best sniper in a second, ruins the game so much when people run around with the best gear all the time, the game becomes call of duty at that point.

They said a few months ago they're making the server make the decisions now instead of the client, which is how arma has it right now.. i think. :v:

What would be the point? If they're taking their time and keeping stress to a minimum it'd be stupid to go "we're releasing in September now excuse us while we go rush through the rest of this project"
If the radio system will be kinda like in the ACRE mod for ArmA 2, that'll be pretty awesome.
They are redoing every single animation in the game to make it more smooth and such.
The thing with ACRE is it uses Teamspeak, it's hard to get non-regular players on ACRE servers to use it, never mind entire DayZ servers. It'll probably be something integrated into the game its self

Well yeah, most likely, I just mean it'll hopefully function like ACRE.

It would almost be better if they could catch up to you, but you could distract them more easily.
I hope they don't make the zombies too fast, it was horrible when one would track you for 5km cause it was the same speed as you.
Wouldn't be that fun though if you could just zoom past every zombie in the game.
They should include more melee weapons, making you have to get close and personal with zombies rather than just shooting them from a 25m distance.
I love how running around feels like I have a washing machine strapped to my head
Oh look you stole that joke from Zero Punctuation
As for that, there's an option under Game Options to disable headbobbing, or adjust it to how you seem fit.

I don't want super bullet proof zombies that can take loads of lead, they're just too arcadey and fantasy-horror for the feel of dayz
Rocket did say though that the number of zombies would be increased (not to mention their behavior will be improved)
Aside from that btw I do think they should be more dangerous as you said when up close
