i seen multiple do it on here recently, and was just wondering what programs are needed and the process since i hate to bother people all the time to do it. most sites use like either shadey programs or just plain dont work, and If it helps i do use CS5.
and with the youtube to gif im not talking about gif soup or whatever the fuck.

There are other methods but this is probably the easiest.
Personally I use FRAPS (To record the video segment) + Adobe Imageready/GIF Movie Gear but I think Photoshop is better if you know to use it.

i know how to make the said gifs and edit them, just not how to capture things off of flashes or youtube.
For Youtube videos, download them either using that keepvid site or some browser plugin and for flash I'm not sure if you can use fraps depending on what player you're using but I use Camtasia Studio for that. Hypercam might work too. Anything that can record your screen freely.

GIF Movie Gear allows you to directly import uncompressed .avis but I think you might need VirtualDub to get the frames and export them into separate images.
