According to official data, the current strength of the Russian Armed Forces is estimated at 774,500 personnel, including 220,000 officers and about 200,000 contracted soldiers. The military needs to recruit about 300,000 men during each draft to keep the number of personnel at the required level of 1 million. However, the crisis in the conscript service caused by demographic decline and army dodging has led the Defense Ministry to halve the number of conscripts in the autumn 2011 draft period. Only 135,000 recruits were drafted in fall last year. The Russian military is facing a tough choice, either to cut the number of personnel in the Armed Forces or to find a way to draft the required number of new recruits, although the latter could lead to the violation of the current legislation and human rights, the paper said.[/release] http://en.rian.ru/mlitary_news/20120118/170819500.html
Well maybe if you didn't abuse the fuck out of them they wouldn't be dodging so much.
Well maybe if you didn't abuse the fuck out of them they wouldn't be dodging so much.
Don't be crazy the solution is more beatings more beatings always works
Well maybe if you didn't abuse the fuck out of them they wouldn't be dodging so much.
Indeed. There are so many horror stories of soldier abuse and poor life in the military. That's why their suicide rate in the military is so high. [editline]20th January 2012[/editline]
Don't be crazy the solution is more beatings more beatings always works
No it doesn't when there is no one to beat. (I know you were sarcastic)
Weird, Given the quality of live the Russian army shows
No it doesn't when there is no one to beat. (I know you were sarcastic)
Then you must go into the general population and begin beating! Lack of beatings caused the downfall of the glorious Union of Soviets, comrade
They're all in the Zone, duh.
They're all in the Zone, duh.
THE ZONE?!?!?! Glorious Russian Supermen never venture in pig disgusting Ukraine!!!
Don't be crazy the solution is more beatings more beatings always works
I disagree modern Russia has to go back in time and bring back executions!
No you idiots. Due to the aging population, Russia do not have enough young men to serve the military. They are not having as many children as they were before. Don't you morons read the article? AGING POPULATION LACK OF NEW RUSSIAN PEOPLE BEING BORN Not enough citizens to hire. This is not just the dodgers

DAMN IT! I was reading this "Russia Faces Shortage of..." It wasn't vodka.
DAMN IT! I was reading this "Russia Faces Shortage of..." It wasn't vodka.
You do realize how pissed Russia would be if they had even a slight shortage of vodka, right?
I disagree modern Russia has to go back in time and bring back executions!
Naturally - what else does more beating eventually result to?
You do realize how pissed Russia would be if they had even a slight shortage of vodka, right?
You do realize that not all Russians follow that stereotype, right?
Seeing the russians here in Latvia, yes, yes they do.
DAMN IT! I was reading this "Russia Faces Shortage of..." It wasn't vodka.
I was expecting butter
Seeing the russians here in Latvia, yes, yes they do.
So you know every single Russian in Latvia? And they all depend on Vodka?
Wait, how can you have a draftee shortage if all the draftees are conscripted? No one signs up for that shit, the government pretty much goes to someone and says "You are now in the armed forces." and you can't do fuck about it. That's what conscription is, forced military service. They can conscript anybody they want, I know the armed forces favor young men, but they technically could extend the age of their standards. Also how can over 150,000 people just dodge service? Maybe I miss read something, or I'm a huge idiot, but this doesn't make much sense.
Seeing the russians here in Latvia, yes, yes they do.
Estonia agrees. Also, I've heard some nasty shit about the Russian military... Back in the bleak, dark days of the USSR, my uncle served his time. And being a non-Russian in a 80% Russian military base is no vacation. For 3 consecutive years more-so. He told me it was the most horrible 3 years of his life.
You do realize how pissed Russia would be if they had even a slight shortage of vodka, right?
utopia
So you know every single Russian in Latvia? And they all depend on Vodka?
You sound angry, are you short on vodka?
I guess if they wanted more conscripts they could start drafting women like Israel. Then they could serve in non-combat positions and free up men to go into the frontline forces.
The Russian armed forces needs a new make over, I don't think it got much of a change even when the USSR fell. It needs change to meet the demands of today's generations and society.
If they started offering free heroin as an incentive, I bet many people would join. [editline]20th January 2012[/editline]
You sound angry, are you short on vodka?
Nope, just stuck in a public school, short on patience.
Its funny when people ask someone if their angry they always reject it and come out with other less angry words.
I was born in Russia and my family practically escaped from the post-Soviet Union wreck that it was and now I live in Canada. I'm so thankful that I can get an amazing education instead of serve a mandatory two-year term in the military for a government who's practices I find questionable if not despicable. I hope that Russia, for the great people within it, get a new President and let Putin rot somewhere where he's wanted.
Abuse soldiers since the 80's, send them to shell civilians in Chechnya and face unfathomable human suffering, then wonder why you can't find any recruits
My dad was one of those army dodgers :v: But yeah, Russia has a pretty shitty birth to death ratio, there's more people dying than being born. No. 1 reason for this: alcohol.
Don't be crazy the solution is more beatings more beatings always works
the beatings will continue to morale improves.
