Dyson makes futuristic hand dryers, room fans, and vacuum cleaners. Except its vacuum cleaners haven’t been that futuristic for a while, neon styling and thoughtful design aside — the British company has so far avoided releasing a Roomba-style robot vacuum, saying that the technology just isn’t there to make a good product. All that changes today with the announcement of the Dyson 360 Eye, a robot vacuum that the company says took 16 years and close to $47 million to research and develop.
“Most robotic vacuum cleaners don’t see their environment, have little suction, and don’t clean properly,” says James Dyson, the inventor that founded the company. “They are gimmicks. Vision, combined with our high-speed digital motor and cyclone technology, is the key to achieving a high-performing robot vacuum — a genuine labor-saving device.”

Except this one looks oh-so-futuristic.
I love Digg.
Man, I love James Dyson's stuff. I bought an Air Multiplier just because I liked the idea :v:
I remember getting kicked out of a store because I found an (elevated) display table with sixteen of these kinda robo-vacuums so I turned all on at once and they just pushed eachother off despite having sensors to avoid stairs :v:
Hypnodisc would rip it to shreds
Yeah his stuff is pretty great. Also the improved navigation makes it sound miles better than our Goomba already (nickname for our non-branded Roomba). Hopefully its navigation is good enough to avoid falling down the stairs, though.

couldn't that have turned out quite expensive if they had broken?
Ok, so apparently this one's gonna get better pathfinding and stuff. I need to read more about this stuff.

Displaying items in that manner is just asking for trouble.
Let's see it do stairs.
My roomba has been going for over 2 years now and still does a good job. This thing is probably going to cost a small fortune.. Hopefully it'll be worth upgrading to once mine quits.

Well if the bloody BBC could afford Robot Wars then I don't see why a retail store couldn't.
My goodness.
We truly are living in the future

I dunno, these have been around for years

7:08. Why don't these things have shit censors?

It's Hypnodisc's illegitimate child that he had after a one night fling the night after he won that year's tournament. His agent is trying to get him to go on Jeremy Kyle but Hypno' says that he has standards and his holding out hope that they'll bring the show back so he can relive his old glory days.

Is Matilda the mother?

I can't possibly say as I've been umbongoed, or whatever that term is when the press and other such groups aren't allowed to divulge stuff.
I like his hand dyers. But to be honest his shit is wayyyyy too expensive. Especially for what it is. Like the air multipler. Which is cool but basically regular fan with a vent. That's fucking 300 dollars.
I will be interested when it can move furniture to vacuum under, open doors to enter another room, do the stairs, etc.
An interesting design, though it looks at least twice as tall as a Roomba.
Hmm... Wonder if it's programmed to destroy Roombas on sight, making it impossible for you to own both...
Roombas can run under things like sofas, racks and more so they're beating it at that already.

The Dyson Airblade is the only hand dryer worth shit

I've used this and it kind of sucks. Its uncomfortable and unnatural feeling and the air flow was too slow.
I still prefer a towel tbh

They are meant for public bathrooms and to replace paper towels.
Too bad Dyson's stuff cost a small fucking fortune.

Yeah but they beat the hell out of any other hand dryer I've ever used.

I just love how it has this 'Oh shit' moment and then collapses downward.

Too bad they're worth every penny
