To me this just screams notch making things up on a project that actually was not even underway, in order to try and rally people against facebook acquisition, aka being a whiney manchild like usual
“I definitely want to be a part of VR, but I will not work with Facebook,” explained the Mojang founder. “Their motives are too unclear and shifting, and they haven’t historically been a stable platform. There’s nothing about their history that makes me trust them, and that makes them seem creepy to me.”
Eat your fucking veggies, just because they look funny don't mean they're gonna hurt you.
I start to hate all the shit that occulus gets now. While i understand The inital rage and confusion it seem more like a witch hunt now.

I can definitely see why he is doing this. It isn't mainly because of facebook. It is because OR got a shitload of money from big-time investor. As Notch mentioned, the free OR update to minecraft was supposed to help promote the platform. Now they don't need that promotion, at least not for free, because they sit on a massive capital and an actor interested in paying for marketing. It's not that we will never see VR Minecraft. We will probably just have to wait a bit longer as it might not have the same priority anymore.
It's not that we will never see VR Minecraft. We will probably just have to wait a bit longer as it might not have the same priority anymore.
You don't even have to wait https://share.oculusvr.com/app/minecrift There's been a mod for almost a year now :v:
I see nothing lost. Notch Relies mostly on the modding community to make up for his empty and broken promises. He just wants to start shit. The fact that a mod comes faster than a developer shows you how fucking lazy they are. Even people at Oculus pointed this out.
Notch doesn't even work on Minecraft, I'm sure he was just making it up because he's upset at the whole Facebook Rift thing and acting really immature about it.
I was actually working on a game for the Rift too, it was going to be literally the best game ever made, granting untold fortunes as well as infinite sexual favours to all who played it But then I watched that Social Network movie and found out mark zuckerberg is mean so it's cancelled now
Ladies and gentlemen, the games industry.
Notch should have his own stand up.
“potential free version of Minecraft designed to promote VR”.
aka a shitty stripped down version that will have virtually no support and will never be updated
So Notch doesn't actually care about VR and is King of the Bandwagon? How utterly surprising. He should really hand his position in Mojang over to a competent developer and project manager.
Ladies and gentlemen, the games industry.
I am glad I never gave a cent to this man and convinced everyone I know not to aswell.
To me this just screams notch making things up on a project that actually was not even underway, in order to try and rally people against facebook acquisition, aka being a whiney manchild like usual
I thought that too until I read his thoughts about the Facebook acquisition, and the most driving thing he said was:
And I did not chip in ten grand to seed a first investment round to build value for a Facebook acquisition.
Facebook's already existing privacy issues and now Oculus Rift using the backer's money to build for a buyout has really hurt trust with crowdfunding.
To me this just screams notch making things up on a project that actually was not even underway, in order to try and rally people against facebook acquisition, aka being a whiney manchild like usual
I'm honestly pretty sick of Notch he used to seem so cool but he's just a babyman [editline]28th March 2014[/editline] I HATE FACEBOOK and even I think this is the greatest thing to have happened to the Rift! I mean god damn, now they have access to some REAL money and funding! its at this point in a matter where the issues that need addressing have been confirmed as "Not bad", and people are simply trying to poke and prod to find an issue that does not god damned exist
Also: he can just move the project over to Morpheus on the PS4 if he is really THAT intent on promoting VR.
Also: he can just move the project over to Morpheus on the PS4 if he is really THAT intent on promoting VR.
I hope that project also gets bought by facebook and combined with the OR and becomes this amazing thing but it's untouched by facebook just to really piss notch off
What a stupid situation
I hope that project also gets bought by facebook and combined with the OR and becomes this amazing thing but it's untouched by facebook just to really piss notch off
No you don't actually. Because Facebooks' stock values took a massive hit in value after the announcement of the OR. That 1.6 billions dollars in stocks for the OR actually turned into ~1.37 billion over the course of a day. We'll just have to see whether Facebook can utilize OR to up their stock values back to normal if not higher values in the long run, because the OR payout in the short run will be miniscule.

Also, here's their stock over the last 6 months ;)

I should also say that the stock price the OR got was priced at approximately 70 dollars as well. At least, if the articles are to be believed.
