From the looks of it, the web player looks a lot like its desktop counterparts on Mac and Windows, including search, Spotify Radio, playlist editing and creation, and a "What's New" section. Like its desktop apps, Spotify on the web will likely be free to use but include audio ads and banners ads. The web app will roll out over the coming months, we're told, and will supplement but not replace the company's desktop apps. A browser-based player has been one of Spotify's most requested features, and one of the most obvious differences between it and chief competitor Rdio, which has had a web player for years. A web player opens up Spotify to people who don't want to (or aren't allowed to) download apps, and is also simply a nice feature for current users who want to bring their music to a friend's house. It's unclear exactly what technology Spotify has chosen to use for streaming music in its web player, but that should soon become clear — Spotify's desktop apps on one hand use peer-to-peer technology to guarantee super-fast load times, while its mobile apps stream content straight from Spotify's servers. A browser-based Spotify music player was rumored back in early September, but so was a company-wide "redesign" we've yet to see. Update: The web player is now live in some regions, and users will receive a Facebook invite when the service is ready.
Here it is. According to Engadget you have to go to that specific link in order to activate it for your account I had to wait about 30 seconds, then click 'Not loading? Click here' and login with my Spotify account (FB didn't work for me)
I love Spotify, it just keeps getting better and better. Shame this doesn't seem to work on mobiles though.
Is the "Disable AdBlock for a better experience" true or just so they can get their ad revenue?
I love Spotify, it just keeps getting better and better. Shame this doesn't seem to work on mobiles though.
There's definitely a lot more ads than there used to be, but yeah it's a pretty great service.
There's definitely a lot more ads than there used to be, but yeah it's a pretty great service.
I think it's worth the £5 a month for ad-free listening. Never heard an ad since I started paying that.
This took long enough
Those scrubs made it directly download MP3s. That means that to "rip" an MP3 from spotify you just play the song, look at the MP3 it downloaded and right-click save as. It won't be long before somebody makes an automatic ripper.
I think it's worth the £5 a month for ad-free listening. Never heard an ad since I started paying that.
You paid 5 dollars a month for ad free listening, and you never have heard an ad? Jeez, I would hope not..
Spotify is awesome. Though recently I ran out of listening time, even though I had been playing music daily for 2-3 months without any sort of warning :/ Came out of nowhere.
Man I really need to get Spotify Premium, I miss not listening to ads and mobile spotify :(
The trial for spotify was pretty cool, maybe one of these days when I have more money i'll get a premium account just for the convenience.
I've never payed much attention to Spotify, what's the big deal about it? Isn't it just some Music streaming service like Pandora or Slacker?
You paid 5 dollars a month for ad free listening, and you never have heard an ad? Jeez, I would hope not..
5 pounds, actually, smartass.
I've been using premium for half a year now, it's so convenient I don't even store any music on my phone anymore
5 pounds, actually, smartass.
o fuk.....:suicide:
I've never payed much attention to Spotify, what's the big deal about it? Isn't it just some Music streaming service like Pandora or Slacker?
Its like Pandora but its where you pick your songs and not let the program pick it, at least on desktop.
I've never payed much attention to Spotify, what's the big deal about it?
I've never payed much attention to Spotify, what's the big deal about it? Isn't it just some Music streaming service like Pandora or Slacker?
It's got EVERYTHING. Yes, even that.
I've never payed much attention to Spotify, what's the big deal about it? Isn't it just some Music streaming service like Pandora or Slacker?
Pandora's a radio service and I have no idea what Slacker is.
It's got EVERYTHING. Yes, even that.
It also has an app for One Direction and Tiesto!
I would purchase spotify if it had "buy for 6 months" or "12 month options" not pay per month I don't have enough money to do that, if I could buy it right out for a year or 6 months I would totally get it so I'm stuck with the free version
I've never payed much attention to Spotify, what's the big deal about it? Isn't it just some Music streaming service like Pandora or Slacker?
there's pandora-esque radio where you can create stations based on a "seed" and find similar music, liking and disliking to tailor the station's content, you can type in basically any artist, album, song, etc and instantly stream a good quality version of any song you want instantly for free, and with premium you can download as much music as you want to your mobile (very easily and smoothly as well) and listen even without an internet connection. its basically the ultimate itunes/pandora mashup and all for free/extremely cheap
I was never that into music before I got Spotify but now I just constantly find new stuff and the whole thing is so convenient. Definitely one of the best subscriptions I've made.
Fair enough, download helper does the trick nonetheless. I don't have offline mode so this is perfect for my phone.. Wait this isn't warez right?
you're ripping copyrighted music from a poorly secured streaming service, it's warez

tbh i think its rather cunty to be abusing spotify. they're a really great service that makes listening to and enjoying music convenient and cheap while making sure artists get paid via the money generated by ads and subscription fees.
