[release]Criminal court of Rodez (Aveyron) has sentenced last Thursday in the evening the former priest Pierre-Etienne Albert with 5 years of Prison for acts of pedophilia. Sooner in the afternoon, the prosecutor had required 10 years, which is the biggest sentence possible for this type of crime. The accused is in trial since Wednesday for pedophilia acts committed on tens of children for years.
A committal order was emitted by the court. While having been at the trial as a free man for the past two days, Pierre-Etienne Albert will go back to jail Thursday evening after the trial. The court of Rodez has added to the sentence a care order, a prohibition to have contact with minors and a 5 year long socio-judicial monitoring, accepting the requests of the republic prosecutor, with the exception of a privation of the accused's civil rights demand, which wasn't applied.
In a violent speech, prosecutor Yves Delpérié described the former figure of the Beatitudes catholic community as a "real pedophile", a "heartless person" who "completely lacked sympathy" for his victims.
38 cases of sexual assault between 1985 and 2000
Pierre-Etienne Albert answered for 38 cases of sexual assault committed between 1985 and 2000 and boys and girls, who were then 5 to 14 years old. The accused was composing chores and musics for the community, which made him travel a lot from "houses" to "houses" and let him constantly near children.
Now 60 years old, he said several times he completely assumed his acts, and expressed his repentance. The Beatitudes community, created in 1973 and present in every of the five continents, recognized the day before the trial that these were "very serious acts" and expressed their "shame" to the victims' entourages concerning "such abuse". At the same time, the victims reproached the community of knowing what was going on, without having done anything to stop the abuse. The community is still being watched over by the inter-ministerial mission of vigilance and fight against sectary derivations.[/release]

TL;DR / Didn't understand (translation sucks, sorry) : Priest molested/raped 38 kids over 15 years, gets 5 years of prison for it.
5 years for 38 kids molested and psychologically devastated. What a bunch of bullshit. What's worse is that even if he got a harsher sentence, the maximum he could have got would have been 10 years - it's ludicrously few for having fucked up 38 children over 15 years. But the inmates of the prison where he will be sent in will probably take care of that case - most pedophiles like this get taught a harsh lesson in prison, often getting raped or getting their ass destroyed by broomsticks.
LOL IRONY
Shocker
I guess all justice systems are fucked up one way or another
I think they were pretty lenient here, but not by much.
5 years in prison is a fucking long time, especially when you're in there for molesting children.
I just want you consider this.
That counts out to about 48 days per child molested.
A single molested child nets this guy as much jail time as a DUI.

It's the number of molested kids that's the key value here. The guy is getting as much as if he only molested one child through his entire career, refuses to apologize (basically he said "yeah I raped you but I'm still going to heaven") and even refuses to understand what's wrong with what he did - he just assumes his act and hopes people will give him a pat in the back for it.
This, and the fact the entire Christian church refused to help the police. An important figure of the community said he once tried to talk with the priest, who didn't say a word though, but whenever the police tried to ask question to the other religious members of the community, they all kept it shut. Plus, the important figure I talked about right before knew what the guy was doing (hence why he tried to talk some sense into him), way before the victims started denouncing the priest and way before the police was aware of the case.
Five years? He's ruined the lives of 38 people, and he can only get up to ten years? GG French justice system.

TBH this could happen in a fuckload of countries with a Christian culture. I bet your ass a pedophile priest in the united states or the UK would get the same short sentence and could also roam around freely for 11 years before actually being judged.
On the upside they'res a good chance he wont leave prison alive.
thought only catholic priests did that

you are completely idiotic man. I remember a few years back a man molested a girl and was sentenced to 20 years. It is clear the comment you made wasn't to bash the U.S or U.K justice system, it was to bash Christianity. No one hear once to hear it

Your post doesn't make jackshit sense. "only catholic priests" ? "Christian" designates the whole spectrum from orthodox to protestantism. Plus, the priest in the article IS catholic.
Also, good to know someone "molested a girl and was sentenced to 20 years", but in which country ? Was he a priest ? Was he released half-way through his sentence ?
I'm not bashing Christianity, nor the Justice System. At least, I'm not bashing Christianity as a whole but only the higher authority who is very clearly remaining deaf about the whole pedophilia case, denying the existence of such cases even though they sometimes tell the pope to make pretty speeches to make people think they are taking care of the case -while they obviously don't.
Also, you said "once" instead of "wants". You're either tired or you have some serious spelling issues.

God damn it.
Look, when it comes down to it, the value and sanctity of human life cannot be lessened by one's own actions. It can be paedophile, a murderer, a thief, or just a normal man; all of these people are... well, people. I'd rather he got off scot-free than have him stabbed in the throat by some guy named Bubba.
Of course, I don't want him to leave; I just want it be a learning experience, in a way. But if there were a risk of him dying before he fully understands the error of his ways, either get him somewhere safer, or get him outside.

Whilst his post is quite poor, you have been known to bash America before.
Just dropping that out there.
Copyright infringement can land you more time than this.

Good thing I'm not bashing America at all here. Just that the UK and the US kinda are two of the most christian countries on the planet.

I know, just saying it might be affecting which countries you're saying would let him free.
Though I don't know about the UK. We're infamously light on issues we really shouldn't be, but I don't entirely think he'd be left off just because he's a priest.

The Church is still quite powerful these days, and the victims very rarely dare talking about what happened. During the trial, only one of the present victims actually showed her face, all the others hid themselves like they were supposed to be ashamed of having been abused by some old pedophile fart.
It's not that because he's a priest he's getting less attention, it's that because he's a priest no one talks about it.
Gets away?
When the other inmates learn what he's in for, he's going to get knifed and either end up sucking food through a straw for the rest of his life, or die painfully.
Hopefully...

He very probably won't survive this but I mean seriously, 5 YEARS for aggravated pedophilia on 38 kids !
Death sentence.
[editline]2nd December 2011[/editline]
He will probably get murdered on his second day of prison
Anybody want to give me an alibi? I'll dispense some justice. This is a sick fucking joke.

No you won't.
Hang on, the article says he's now 60 (presumably in 2011). He was convicted of assault for cases going back to 1958. How does that work, he'd have to have been 8 or 9 when he started.
1985, not 1958
LOL IRONY
I just see his actions contrary to the "generally accepted" rule of loving everybody. (Molesting children isn't that.)
And all the church does is claim it's not responsible for the acts of it's representatives.
Well fuck me if it ain't so, but the actions of your representatives actually molds the reputation of the main body.
This sentence is goddamn disgusting, kids caught with bags of weed get more than this.
1985, not 1958
Oh my mistake, I corrected that.
I am sorry but if there is 100% proof he molested 38 kids, he should get a life. I mean shit 38 kids. Most people don't even have that much partners in their lifetime, and he did it to so many kids. Sick fuck. I usually don't advocate such actions, but if he gets only 5 years I hope his ass will become as wide as moon in these 5 years.
Statue of limitations y u exist.
What's up with people here? You're hoping he get's tortured or killed? He's still a human being, and yes, I agree, he should get life. But killed or shanked or whatever? No.
