• IS my Graphics Card messing up?

Okay I've since had confirmation that optifine causes the glitch in Minecraft. However I've still not found a solution to the same problem happening in other games. Can someone help me out with a fix or at least working out what the problem is? Do you have the lastest gpu drivers?
Do you have the lastest gpu drivers?
I do have the latest drivers yes, not a beta release though.
Interesting, well the graphics card isn't dying, the effects would be much more severe. I assume it's a graphics setting in the 3d advanced section in the Nvidia control panel, although I couldn't tell you which one is causing that effect. Make sure things are set to application-controlled, and if you can't set it to that, set it to disabled
I don't remember really messing with my settings bar with Assassins Creed but I've restored the settings anyway. However the effects can get rather severe, this is a fraction of how glitchy it gets. With Loadout it reached a point where aiming down my scope resulted in a grey screen.
Could it be an overheating issue? I've got a cooler on the way but I'be just been propping up my laptop to help a bit. According to Speccy everything was running between 60-70 degrees. Someone told me that's fine but parts of my laptop were almost sore to the touch and that doesn't seem right. Currently downloading some Nvidea system tools that are supposed to warn of excessive heat and such.
If you've had the laptop for awhile, the heatsinks in the laptop could be clogging up. It's not uncommon for laptops with beefy GPUs to fail due to the GPU desoldering itself from the motherboard, or having cracked BGA joints. The problem is exacerbated by most owners not regularly cleaning the heatsink bricks inside the laptop, which inevitably become clogged with hair and dust and prevent proper cooling.
If you're alt-tabbing to check the temperatures that's usually enough for it to cool down. Get something that logs the temperatures or shows it in-game and see how hot it really gets. [editline]penis[/editline] If whatever it is you're using shows Min/Max and you're using it right, ignore this. But if not, you can use HWMonitor or speedfan.
I've only had the laptop since October so I doubt it's gone as far as desoldering itself. However seen as you mention cleaning the heatsink, can that be done from the outside or do I have to open it up? I've never opened up a laptop before.. [editline]23rd February 2014[/editline] This was about 5-10 minutes of gametime in BF4, the drop-off at the end was when the match finished. According to Playclaw (it has an in-game temp monitor) it was hovering around 75C, but apparently 0rpm on the fan - which I doubt, as I can feel my laptop humming all over. GPU seems fine, 80 might be a bit high for some CPUs but since it's laptop then i guess not. Did you get any artifacts during that ? If you did, i doubt it's overheating, especially considering how new it is.

I had one instance of flashing text on Planetside 2 but it was only for like 2 seconds and didn't happen again.

Just blowing air into the exhaust holes on the exterior of the laptop won't do anything because the dust is trapped inside.

I also got my cooling stand today so all should be good. It's a Notepal U3. [t]http://www.techreaction.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/IMG_0653.jpg[/t]

Yeah it can't be my GPU, it was running less than 50 in Gmod and I was still getting these errors.
Yeah it can't be my GPU, it was running less than 50 in Gmod and I was still getting these errors.
Ive had these same problems on an nvidia gtx 550ti, i was forcing some sort of anti aliasing. supersampling? edge detect mode? dunno, you know how nvidia is with those drivers. Its odd how it only seems to act with things that deal with transparency. In fact, im pretty sure nvidia has a setting for transparent anti aliasing. p.s. went from a radeon 9550, to a hd 3850, to a gtx 550ti to 2 gtx 550tis, to a radeon hd 7970ghz edition and never looked back.
Thing is I need an Nvidea card as I'm using it's power for creative work. If this was purely a gaming laptop, yeah I'd go AMD.

Said as "Its odd how it only seems to act with things that deal with transparency. In fact, im pretty sure nvidia has a setting for transparent anti aliasing."
Oh, it wasn't bolded when I first read it.. I did however go and change some of the nvidea settings anyway. I've been too busy to try it out but I will post when I have time.
