A dear was found slain early Sunday morning on Gryting in Gjerstad. The Norwegian Nature Inspectorate took care of the carcass to study it further. Now the Inspectorate confirmed that the deer was killed by a wolf.

Apparently, Wolves aren't allowed to eat in Norway :v:

Wow seriously no other problems? Leave the nature alone.
That Bastard!
Why Can't Wolves just not eat!!!!
Those Bastards! I think we should kill them all!!!!!!!!1111
In all seriousness, its apart of the Circle of Life. Let it Be.
shoot it in the leg so you can arrest it and put it on trial
Unless the wolf is part of a pest problem, I don't see the reason for killing it. Maybe there's some kind of special situation in Norway?
No it's just an excuse for some euro hillbilly to shoot something rare.
Norway has one of the smallest wolf populations in the world that is also heavily damaged by several generations of inbreeding due to their small number and lack of healthy genes. Similar problem in Sweden but we're forced to maintain the population due to EU directives and there's a pretty big resistance among farmers that doesn't wanna fence their animals and hunters who wants to be able to hunt with loose dogs in wolf inhabited areas.
In other news, sky is blue.
Come on man, it's just the rules of nature
You gotta follow the law of the wild
Guys, the body's not eaten.
This counts as murder

The wolves in Norway are listed as a critically endangered species on the Norwegian Red List (2006). The total wolf population in Norway is at present between eight and ten wolves, and no pups were produced in 2007. The population has been reduced by half in the last year due to governmental hunting licenses and pouching.

I assume its a bit old but daaaaamn, I thought they would have had more wolfs.
The Fennoscandian Wolf Population is alarmingly weak and with increased lobbyism to allow more wolf hunting they will probably exterminate our indigenous wolves.
More of the Stark family's bad luck I suppose
Anyone from Canada or Romania who cares to tell us about the Wolf situation in your country? Is it equally hated over there?

I can just tell you about situation here, in Czech Republic, where wolf was native but went extinct quite long ago.
We are TRIPPING with boars and deer and these shits keep overpopulating all the time. You plant a tree on unfenced garden in rural area? They are going to chew all bark off over winter, if you don't paint it with this sandy white crap.
Few months ago there was a report of a hunt on boars, specifically mainly to control the population - they killed over a hundred boars in a small area over the weekend. The freezers of the huntsmen are full of that stuff, they are failing to sell it fast enough.
Seriously, predators in nature are not just cool as fuck but IMPORTANT, and if you wipe them out, you upset the entire ecosystem.

Thanks, Anyone with indigenous wolves are welcome with their input on the matter. We have the same problem in Sweden with aproximately 300 000 Boars, 400 000 Moose and 300 000 Deers. The hunters are failing to reduce the numbers yet they don't want any help from the natural predators.
We have problems with boars here too. The hunter brought them here so they could have something to hunt... now they can't hunt them down.
I'm sorry but can we just ban stupid morons from destroying the ecosystem, these people fucking the planet up.
If they start killing too many wolfs they will end up with an overly large deer population which will begin to eat to much fauna and eventually destroy the ecosystem, then they'll end up introducing bears to kill the deers and they'll end up with a bear problem so they'll get snakes to deal with the bears then they can just eat the snakes and all will be well.
So basically the circle of life is illegal now?

Are these experienced hunters or just crybabies with guns. I'm pretty sure an experienced hunter is aware on how nature works.

Why shoot the wolf if it's not harming your calves or sheep. Shoot something good to eat instead.

I can't get it out of my head
There was a problem a while ago at Yellowstone National Park here in America involving wolves. They weren't a problem, it was just they were over-hunted and the population of its prey got out of whack, and the environment suffered. They were only recently re-introduced. Some people got butthurt because they were fearing for their own safety, even though wolves generally avoid humans. Hell, during the first re-introduction mission, the biologists wanted as little contact with the wolves as possible as they were being released from their pens.

I usually use Yellow Stone as a prime example of what happens when you remove the apex predators from an ecosystem, but the hunters in Sweden are 100% sure they can do an equally great job. However when the wolves kill without consuming the carcasses left behind serve as a really great dinner serving for a range of other animals and micro organisms.
In Denmark, nature people are fucking thrilled about, what COULD look like, wolves killing sheep! :v:
