Wish people would understand piracy is going to be around no matter how many people you stop.

What's your point? That we should stop fighting it?

So far the only solutions that have been proposed are illegal search and seizure (Megaupload), deportation for breaking the law of another country (Richard O'Dwyer), and handing limitless power over all internet users to the entertainment industry (SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, doubtless more to come). Fighting piracy on a smaller scale (DRM) has only served to fuck over legitimate customers. Yes, you should stop fighting it. It's like trying to escape quick sand by writhing around in it.

I hate to jump on a slippery slope, but what happens if you completely stop fighting piracy? What if piracy becomes more popular than actually buying software, etc.?

It won't if buying the products gives better benefits than pirating it. They need to stop fighting piracy like it is a person and rather like if it is a Chinese copy of their product.

There are many ways to do this without shitting all over the people that payed for your product and without breaking or bending international law for a handful of money. Not that fighting piracy should be stopped completely, but it needs to be changed from the stick to the carrot. Offer incentives to buy instead of pirate.
