So there were the Cacharias. Now there's this: http://www2.razerzone.com/Megalodon/ http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169420200 If you own one, leave a little review feedback please. My own questions: Is the mic good? Is it heavy on the head? Do the ear pads get dirty? Does 7.1 really let you hear better than the 5.1 Cacharias during gaming (as in hearing enemies around you) Q: Why is this thread made? A: I'm deciding whether should buy this or not. Razer headphones are never good. You'll be better off buying Sennheiser. Don't buy
no
They are good, but very overpriced.
I've had these without the little volume thing device. And it has been sad many many times already but the whole 7.1 surround sound is a gimmick. The sound is alright but you can get much better for less.
Where's that headset mega thread when you need it?
I had a pair. Awful sound quality, very noticeable static on higher volumes. Could just have been a broken pair I got though. And to answer your questions: I never tested it long enough to say if the microphone was any good. It did feel a bit heavy on the head, but again I didn't test it long enough. And surround sound in headsets is a gimmick, I've had my fair share of surround headsets and I can't say I've ever had any advantage over my opponents in games thanks to that. Surround sound headphones usually tend to be pricier and worse compared to same price range stereo headphones. I have had quite a few gaming headsets, but I've never been as happy as I am now when I finally realized that gaming-gear is bullshit. I currently have a Sennheiser HD-650(I went overboard on this one) with a generic clip-on microphone. But if you insist on gaming gear, I'd recommend SteelSeries Siberia V1.
