Conservative newspaper The Columbus Dispatch makes historic endorsement of Clinton

Like millions of Americans, The Dispatch editorial board has asked this question more than once: How, in a nation of more than 300 million people, did we end up with two such disliked and distrusted presidential candidates?
At the same time, we worry that this dismaying choice will cause some voters to throw up their hands and pass on this election. We urge voters to do their homework, cut through the half-truths and lies, and go to the polls with facts.
For us, the choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is not pleasant, but it isn’t difficult. Republican candidate Donald Trump is unfit to be president of the United States. Democrat Hillary Clinton, despite her flaws, is well-equipped for the job.
first democrat they've endorsed since woodrow wilson in 1916, 100 years ago

This is the point I've been making as well, Clinton is terrible but at the end of the day she's less terrible than Trump

That's not the point they're making at all.
The point they're making is that she's not that bad and would make a decent president.

I think they're saying that while they dislike her; at the end of the day she is experienced, smart, well-connected, calm under pressure and thus, a good candidate.

that's what i meant

Experienced and smart? Like getting 4 Americans killed and leaking classified information? And well connected, surely to her list of business partners right?
It keeps happening and morons keep thinking this is some great thing. All these conservative endorsements show is that Clinton is successfully pulling of yet another triangulation campaign. Liberal or leftist supporters of her should be horrified by all of this.
Big picture, though, nobody cares. Who reads print media? TV has already lost most of its relevancy. The only reason these print outlets even exist at all is because of their limited online publications which are also irrelevant. How many of you had heard of "The Columbus Dispatch" before today? And how many minds is this going to change?

to compare flaws, hillary is like a car with a scratch on the door while trump is like that crumpled car sitting in the junkyard

huh

'Experienced and smart' as in nine years of experience as a senator and another four as secretary of state. Well-connected as in has political connections, name-recognition and respect, both in the American political system and on the international scene as secretary of state.
I really don't understand the Benghazi thing and how it's her (but also Obamas but also muslim terrorists) fault that four Americans got killed, and the leak is.. Well yeah, irresponsible. But that doesn't change everything else about her that makes her a solid, good candidate.

I, Apache249, continue to pledge my unwavering support for Not Donald Trump. Not Donald Trump is intelligent, reasonable, and a strong leader. Not Donald Trump is the President that America needs.
that's what i meant
You said she's 'terrible', and that's not implied anywhere in their statement. Or true, to any real extend.

she gave up on moderate republicans weeks ago, pulling out of states like georgia or utah because she wasnt going to break the trump floor

I know very little about the whole ordeal so correct me if im wrong, but people blame her due to her inaction, she was apparently made aware of a potential serious threat before it happened but took no steps to prevent it despite being in a position to do so.
Again, just what ive heard, might be wrong, never really bothered to study up on it.

the initial response to bengazi was a deliberate botch, they did not want to go on record saying there was a terrorist attack on the 10th anniversary of 9/11
also it doesnt matter what the events of bengazi actually were since people deal in feelings and the spin has deeply been that obama and hillary left those guys to die that night when they could have rolled in the troops and saved them, the facts do not support this but its what people feel happened
Clinton isn't terrible. She's quite the opposite. She holds a variety of progressive, socially liberal viewpoints. She is intelligent and well-educated. But more than that she is willing to make compromises and find a useful middle ground with those who don't agree with her. People call her centrist, a moderate, a career politician, as if that's some kind of insult, but in a country as divided as the US, a career politician who knows how to navigate the minefield of US politics is exactly what you need to unite the nation.

Meh, compromise isn't always the best outcome. Just look at Obamacare, by conceding stuff to the opposition and being content with half-measures it ended up doing more harm than good.

There is no Democrat the Republicans hate more than Hillary Clinton (maybe Bill). They are fanatical and will accept no compromise. Hillary might have some socially liberal positions but right now foreign policy is extremely important and Clinton is a total hawk which is the worst thing for us right now.

Maybe liberals and leftists on FP aren't as liberal and leftist as you are?
