How to reduce temperature of i7-2600k so that I could overclock? Currently no overclock. I had intel cooler before and idle temperature 46-55*C. I changed to Cooler Master Hyper TX3 and idle temperature 32-38*C. Not good enough. There is no dust in the case, motherboard temperature 25*C. What to do?
Increase fan speed on CPU cooler, buy better fans for the cooler, improve airflow in the case. What case are you using?
You're not going to get much cooler than that without getting a watercooling setup or lowering the ambient temperature.
32-38C is pretty good for an idling temperature. It doesn't 'need to be better'. I think the recommended operation temperature is actually higher than that.
My Core 2 Quad idles at 50 degrees, how the fuck is 32 not good enough
My Core 2 Quad idles at 50 degrees, how the fuck is 32 not good enough
My C2Q idles at 28.
My C2Q idles at 28.
Look at the core temps.
My q6600 idles at about 40 with the shitty stock cooler that it came with. Also my computer is sort of in a box. That does not help at all.

After proper cable management, new cooler, and new thermal paste I'm idling at 20C, and when I'm doing something very intensive, never goes above 50C.
Intel i7 870 Here. Stock cooler, 63°C idle temp :v: [editline]HOT[/editline] In combination with my GTX 480, my PC doubles as a ghetto heater.
You must live somewhere cold.
Not really. We had snow once so far. (Jersey, Channel Islands) It's cold in parents "office" but everyhting is so expensive here heaters are out of the question. It just gets cold in this room becuase the doors are very old. Side note, I think I am the only member of facepunch from Jersey. I think I alone bear the title of only FP member in an entire island. I want someone to prove me wrong though.

Seeing as I have a GTX680 and idling at 25c which never goes above 40. Same with the CPU as you. Kinda proud to be honest.
