So I have this awesome 27" screen (1920x1080) and my 8800GT can't handle that resolution. Which one of the current graphics cards can run games in 1920x1080 at 60fps? My other specs: CPU: Intel Q6600 RAM: 4GB Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-N650SLI-DS4L

Something like that. Btw, my computer couldn't run even CSS at 1080p with full settings. :geno: [editline]04:45PM[/editline] All I want is to play my games smoothly in my monitor's native resolution without lowering the graphics.

We need a budget and a PSU.
Oh, right. It's 600W and made by OCZ. I don't care about the budget I just want to know which GPU is the best for my preferences (but I'm not a millionaire, keep that in mind).
if there's no budget, quad SLi 480s
If you can swing 350$ get a 470, 400-450$ get a 5870, 450+ get a 480. A good low budget card is the HD5770.

[editline]05:28PM[/editline] Shit I'd buy GTX 470 but I don't want to use "all" my money on a GPU.
Radeon HD 5870

5770 is clearly enough for Source games only. [editline]04:30PM[/editline] Damn ninja'd
you're looking at at least a 5850 to get a good upgrade, otherwise it's not worth the cash
I thought so. Well, I'll try to speak with my parents. :downs:

Also, I have the 4870 and play at 1920x1080 resolution on highest settings, without AA. I think that the 5770 is the new equivalent of that, correct me if I'm wrong

I'm running a 5750 1GB Vapor-X. And I can run Shadow of Chernobyl, and Clear Sky at 1600x900 16xAF, 4xAA force by driver. And I get a clear 60+FPS. TF2 runs at 60+FPS 1600x900 with all maxxed 8xAA/16xAF ( just like any source engine game). Trackmania seems to actually drop to 40fps in areas with everything maxxed. And GTA IV runs decent with medium settings and an average of 27 FPS.

But if that GPU can play those games well then I think 5850 is enough for me (though 470 would be great because of the PhysX and I like Nvidia more).
If your budget's $200, the HD 4890 is a beast at 1920x1080. On MW2 it runs around 80 FPS with 2x AA. Garrysmod runs at 200-300+ FPS with recommended settings on singleplayer and non-laggy servers.

My system can barely handle it on 1600x900 0xAA 4xAF, and everything medium/low. With drops to 20fps in places.
if he wants to keep up then a 5770 isn't going to cut it
this and if you haven't already, buy a good CPU cooler and overclock the crap out of the Q6600

My old 21" CRT from 2001 had a resoultion of 1600x1200. HD doesn't really apply to computers.
That's weird, I have a 5770 and i can run it on max with about 50fps
Max for you=1280x1024? That makes no sense.
My old 21" CRT from 2001 had a resoultion of 1600x1200. HD doesn't really apply to computers.
Yes it does. 1080p equals 1920x1080, I think.
My old 21" CRT from 2001 had a resoultion of 1600x1200. Of course you do get some idiots who believe that HD only applies to plasma/LCD displays. And you can't say HD doesn't apply to computers when HD resolutions have been available on computers long before HD-DVD/Blu-ray/HDTV/etc was released. The actual term "HD" is a marketing term aimed at uneducated people which just means "bigger screen, clearer image, and more money".
Radeon 5970.
