Well, I'm not a common one to start threads on much, so consider this a rare occasion.
Monster X Strikes Back: Attack the G8 Summit features Guilala, a giant monster from a 1960's Japanese film named "The X From Outer Space." This movie isn't a full sequel, but works as a satirical comedy that stars the creature that started the "deely-bopper" craze of retro monster films.
As the long title promises, the film features Guilala landing in Lake Toya, Japan as the G8 Summit takes place. The film revolves around each G8 member's plans to stop Guilala, including a German Poison Gas plan, British Brainwashing, and several others.
The film is technically a spoof of it's own genre, as it does include many Giant Monster themes, while ultimately poking fun at them with such things as an obviously poorly put-together suit for Guilala, little toy cars being stomped on, random appearances of Little Kids that want to name the monster, and so on and so forth.
I recommend seeing it even if you aren't a big fan of Giant Monster films, as it doubles as a great comedy. It pokes fun at the G8 Summit members and their respective countries, even holds a dominant comedic theme of North Korean threats.
So, here's a Trailer:

I saw the film on the 4th, while I was in Chicago, attending G-Fest - a giant monster convention. I know, I know, "You went to see a foreign film on our independence day?" But hey, I saw some fireworks down at Navy Pier.
Long story short: Fun comedic giant monster film that is a must see for giant monster fans and non-fans alike. Get a copy and watch it.
Ahahah that looks absolutely ridiculous. Did they have the whole film subtitled for you to watch?
Yeah it had subtitles when I went to go see it.
I honestly can't tell if that's supposed to be satire, or a serious movie from the trailer.
ah, G-Fest... I NEVER GET TO GO THERE!!! DAMMIT!
This sounds awesome.
Awesomely horrid.
When I saw Monster X, i thought you meant the one from Cave Story.

My dad got a table there this year for his book, so I tagged along. :fuckyou:
Hopefully the subs can be turned off, they're rather annoying when you know what they're saying already.
Lol the title reminded me of 1960's King Ghidrah
Yeah, Monster X does seem to be a recurring name among space-based monsters...

TAKE-MAJIN!!!
I'm rolling a blunt and watching that as soon as I can.
WhaTs that? O.o
