So I'm planning on moving my 360 to another room, which isn't wired for the internet. Is there a way I can get my 360 on the net without buying an overpriced wireless card or making myself and my dad wire everything up? I heard that if I just run a cat5 cable between my pc and my xbox, it should be able to connect to the WiFi that my PC is on. Is this true?
buy xbox360 slim it has built in wifi
If you connect your PC and Xbox with an Ethernet cable then you can use Xbox Live through your PC, I have to do that to play XBL on my 360 at Uni v:v:v

Thanks Dashiel, now I can finally play it on a larger screen than the little farty one up in my bedroom.

Yeah you just have to bridge the connections. You will need 2 ethernet ports on your PC or a wireless connection on your PC.
Or you can buy yourself a switch and split the signal going into your PC.

He better be sure his modem has an internal DHCP server then.

90% of internet users should already have some sort of router. If not a switch will do fine but he may need to manually configure the IP.
If he is trying to connect it to wifi at all he should have a router too...

You're gonna have to bridge the connection though.
Goto your adapter settings for your network connections, Highlight both the connections, right click one and hit bridge connection. Used to use it all the time with the laptop in my room.

Or use ICS, and not lose the internet connection on your PC.

What the hell are you talking about? I've been bridging connections for the original xbox and my 360 for years, since XP, and never have lost the connection on my laptop while connected with my console.
I was about to buy an adapter for like $90 before I read this.
I fucking love you guys.

Happened to me everytime. Xbox had internet, but the PC didn't. But whatever. Got Internet Connection Sharing set up, and worked fine. Now I have an actual router which is much better.
Use your laptop as a bridge (if you have a laptop)
