Red Dead Redemption was one of Take Two Interactive’s most successful games, selling more than 15 million units. A sequel (Red Dead Redemption 2) has always been in the cards and now it seems an announcement is going to happen during E3 this year.
Rumor mills have been abuzz for quite some time suggesting a new edition of the hit open world wild west themed franchise is in development, but things have gotten quite interesting lately.
RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 IN DEVELOPMENT?

Fraghero received an email from a reader who wishes to remain anonymous claiming that the game has been in development for over 4 years and is in fact called Red Dead Redemption 2 : Legends Of The West.
He also claimed that the game will be coming out in the fall of 2017 and Rockstar Games is going to announce it during E3 (which takes place in June) this year. He informed us that the game is going to contain more than one playable character and feature a much bigger open world than the last Red Dead title.

Our source claims to have acquired this information from an ex-Rockstar Games employee and has also informed us that a HD remake of the original Red Dead Redemption is in development for next-gen consoles and will be releasing by end of this year.
It is to be noted that Fraghero cannot independently verify any of this information and all of it should be taken with a grain of salt.
We’ve also conducted our own research about the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption announcement at E3 and things do seem to add up.
For starters, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, had previously confirmed that Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto franchises are permanent.
"I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It’s obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others".
Please. I would play the shit out of these
Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West? Smells like bullshit to me
I want it to be real.
But it does mean I'll have to buy a PS4 or whatever.
So I'm torn on this.
Is this a reputable source? I've never heard of them.
It's that time of year, huh. Isn't there a rumor like this that spreads at least once a year? As much as I'd love it (both next-gen [possibly pc]) version of RD1 and a sequel, I'm not sure if that's where Rockstar's aim as a developer is right now - but who knows.
Calling it Red Dead Redemption 2 is like on the levels of silliness as saying the next Elder Scrolls game's subtitle is Skyrim 2.
Rockstar, if you do this, and it's as good or almost as good as the last one, can you please, please please not write your code so shittily that the effort of porting it to PC becomes too difficult for you to bother.
I want to believe!

I'm not good with sources, I'll admit I saw it on r/gaming and figured it was interesting enough to warrant an SH thread.
If the source turns out to be crap then I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time then :C
Honestly if we did get a HD version of Redemption, you know where it better end up?
On fucking PC that's where.
I've been wanting it on PC for so long, goddamn.
While I believe Rockstar are likely making a new Red Dead game. This smells fake.
I mean c'mon, Red Dead Redemption 2 : Legends Of The West? Who in their right mind would name the game that?
The details all sound plausible, but it is awfully similar to GTA V's development: being quietly developed over a long period of time, having multiple characters and Rockstar's biggest map yet. It's fishy.
That said, I would expect the new Red Dead game to have a map comparably sized to GTA V's map.

Good lord I hope not, at least if they keep that "mash A to make your horse go faster" mechanic.
If they pull the same shit and don't release this game for PC, I will buy a damn console to play it anyway.
So maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought Rockstar hated E3 and always went out of their way to avoid the conference?

Red Dead Revengeance.

I thought one of them eventually came out and said that they would have been able to port it, they just didn't want to due to financial or whatever reasons.
Rockstar would have to be batscat stupid not to make a new Red Dead
like, beyond laughably stupid. Not funny stupid. Texting "YOLO" while speeding level of stupid.
There's no doubt they're making one but the only truly reliable source is the creators themselves.

Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back 2
Weird as it may sound, I'm not really looking forward to a Red Dead sequel... though I can understand why people would be and I certainly think it'll be one of Rockstar's better games. Red Dead Redemption was quite magical but that was partly due to it's setting and story - which you really can't do twice. It's one of the few works of western fiction that at least I can recall that talks so deeply and passionately about the "death of the west". It colored the whole atmosphere of the game. You even [sp]got to use a semi-automatic pistol and ride in a car[/sp] which won't be there if you go back, and there will be no west if you go forward.
I just ultimately hope that if it is a legitimate statement, they keep it on the more serious side. GTA V, for me, was much better when it was trying to tell a messy crime drama between two partners and a new initiate then introducing me to some weird and offensive caricature. I also hope the antagonists, who were all wonderfully assholes in GTA V, are played with more humanity and viciousness like in RDR. I get why Rockstar needs to keep GTA where it is, but it seems clear to me with Max Payne 3, RDR and GTA 4 that Rockstar needs a place to vent their serious side too.
Whether GTA or Red Dead, I just want a Rockstar or even Saints Row game set in the 20s.
I can't recall a time when Rockstar ever did a major announcement on E3. I thought they are usually do it through their own channels.

Red Dead Redeemed

I think it'd be fair. There's only one other Red Dead game and pretty much nobody knows or cares about it. If it were a direct sequel (which RDR wasn't to...RDR) then it'd be fine too. It's not like publishers haven't done more flagrant, look at CoD. CoD 1, CoD 2, CoD 3, CoD 4 Modern Warfare, CoD World at War, CoD (4? 5?) Modern Warfare 2, CoD BLOPS, CoD MW3, CoD BLOPS 2, CoD Ghosts, Cod Advanced Warfare, and now CoD BLOPS 3. And I guess we're still waiting on CoD 5 to come in and blow all these spin offs (?) out of the water, that's gonna be the shit.
I'd love this, but it's fake. No Rockstar employee would get fired and immediately send an anonymous, proofless email to "fraghero.com" (instead of a site anyone has heard of) to spoil a game announcement 2 years early. These rumors happen all the time. :frown:

It's a clickbait site lmao

Fuck I knew it. I'm sorry for wasting everybody's time then :frown:.
Mods can close this thread if they want to.
pee see pleese
Also, Rockstar never announces games on E3 as far as i know.
Looks pretty fake to me but whilst we're on the topic of a new Read Dead installment, it's going to undoubtedly have to be set before RDR since one of the central themes of that game was the death of the west and the old ways being paved over by the new. A title set between the 1870s-1890s covering the closing of the American frontier would be intriguing, though. The protagonist could quite easily be a civil war vet and I could see the game covering things of the time such as Native American reservations (and the resistance to living on them) and homesteaders ebbing out an existence etc. Could even feature characters from RDR like Landon Rickets or Edgar Ross. Could be quite intriguing.
What about Bully 2 or Agent
Bully 2 could be great if pulled off right. I remember hearing something about R* working on it a while back, it'd be a damn shame if they didn't act on it.
im pretty sure a rd game is in dev, but this is bs
