Hey guys, my video card has recently been running hot. Playing GTA IV, I could hit 107 degrees Celsius which caused throttling and pretty much instability. I took the card apart and put new paste on and cleaned the dust but that only dropped my temps to about 101 degrees full load. The fan is running at 100% and even then the thing still reaches these temps. Some people were saying that this was "normal" and that "it was meant to operate at that temperature" but I refuse to believe that. Is there anything else I can do to cool this thing down or should I bail and upgrade? My cable management could be better but there is nothing obstructing the fan or the area around the card and everything else runs at a comfortable temperature. Oh yeah, I would RMA the card but BFG went under and left me fucked so I can't do that either.
What kind of case do you have? Is your room hot? What kind of cooling do you have?
I have an Antec 1200. My room is relatively cool since I have the AC on most of the time. I tried pulling my case off and blowing a desk fan at the card but that didn't do much since it still ran at high 90 degrees.
You could try getting an aftermarket cooler for the card, or getting a water block for it. The stock cooler on some of those older GTX series cards was pretty rubbish.

I could but I really want to avoid spending money on this card (Saving up potentially for a new one if the new series comes out).
I don't actually know what is wrong with this card since it performed perfectly fine full load under 80 C a while ago. I just noticed that games started stuttering and having random framerate drops within a month ago.
Have you tried re-applying thermal compound on the GPU? The old stuff could have dried up.

Yeah I completely redid everything with some Arctic Silver 5 just an hour ago actually (I only did the core before). Now it stays at around 95-98 degrees but that is still pretty hot.
