Stuck at work, would love to play it :( But probably best to wait till the evening anyway.
Really huge disappointment so far, sanity is gone, inventory is gone, I've yet to find a puzzle so far, you can't even pick up items anymore. Entire game has been press W the video game too, level design is insanely linear and worst of all, there's no horror to be found [editline]10th September 2013[/editline] cool story though, I guess
so it's Gone Home with monsters
gone home had the worst monsters of them all the patriarchy
Had hope but if Hakkar is right then The Chinese Room had a bigger hand in development than Frictional, I liked Dear Esther but I don't want Dear Esther in my Amnesia.
Good job Chinese Room, you ruined Amnesia.
I really like it. Shame about the oil/tinderbox removal and the health removal but it's really atmospheric, the enemies are pretty damn cool (and few and far between) but I'm only an hour and a half in. I got to the piston room and nope'd out of there.
Waiting for my gf to stop playing garrysmod so I can download this thing, but I'm not having high hopes for it from what I've heard so far. You had one job Chinese Room.
It was never possible that this game was going to be as great as the first. It's still a great game for the price tag, refer to this: [editline]10th September 2013[/editline]
Good job Chinese Room, you ruined Amnesia.
Don't judge your experience off someone else opinion when it comes to games like this, you're just making yourself miss out.

AMFP is great, and I'm glad that in many respects it's not the same as TDD just so it feels fresher.

They basically went, "Hey lets make a sequel, but REMOVE EVERYTHING THAT MADE AMNESIA, AMNESIA."
They basically went, "Hey lets make a sequel, but REMOVE EVERYTHING THAT MADE AMNESIA, AMNESIA."
But the atmosphere is what made Amnesia, and that is certainly still there.
I'm going to play the game in a few hours so I'll be able to answer my questions but the removal of sanity and health management doesn't seem like a big problem to me. Maybe I played the first game wrong but my sanity never ruined my progress and for health I remember healing on my own if I stayed out of trouble for some time. The infinite lantern seems like it will make things a bit easier though. Unless the detection is actually made properly. Then it can be interesting.
Tinderboxes and oil made the entirety of Amnesia.
Fuck, I should've waited for a sale rather than preorder. First rule of sequels.
all the stuff i've heard they've removed sounds like an improvement to me
game's trash, don't bother [editline]10th September 2013[/editline]
all the stuff i've heard they've removed sounds like an improvement to me
you'd think so but the game's so fucking boring it makes no difference
Entire game has been press W the video game too
So it's pretty much like their previous game, Dear Esther, but horror.
It begins EDIT: Okay it crashed. Doesn't look like MoP is much of a good sequel, so I'll either not play it, or wait for a sale

£10 is way too much for 4 hours of "press W to get told spooky stuff" gameplay.

Or were you somehow playing by another means. [editline]10th September 2013[/editline] Guys, geeze. It's not a bad game. Do what he's doing. Play the demo. Wait a second, there is no demo.
Every time I played Amnesia I made sure to coat myself in oil and stack eleven tinderboxes in my pockets I don't know how you guys played it but now that all you can do is drag boxes I dunno what to do anymore
Good job Chinese Room, you ruined Amnesia.
You do realize that both chineseroom and Frictional Games worked on it?
I'm just annoyed that they took out the inventory system. The puzzles aren't even hard enough to be called puzzles. It was either, find a lever and pull it, or fix a broken lever and THEN pull it. They removed the inventory system which pretty much made it so they couldn't make different types of puzzles. During the first half hour it felt like a really dumbed down version of the prequel. Also the fact that they locked every item, cabinet and drawer in place, and the only objects you could move/touch are either story related or progress related.
You have to admit oil added atmosphere to the game as you had to use the lantern wisely and not keeping it forever on. Same for the tinderboxes. The inventory makes puzzles a little bit harder as you have to find and walk around to gather pieces of a puzzle and then, use them in some way to solve it. I haven't played this new one but I'm sure the game is not that horrible. Well, they took out the nice elements the first one had but I bet it's still enjoyable. For me, you guys gave me a reason to wait for a sale to buy it.
There's still Outlast.
Played it, currently in process of getting near the end, after playing it for 3-4 hours.
