Have a project coming up where I could use some tips!?

So I have a photo idea where I want to take 4 scenarios and freeze there motion. Some photos I want to use "levitation photography" techniques where others i want to just freeze the motion at its most interesting point in the most clear and detailed way possible.
The equipment I have is a canon 600d with a 24-70mm lens.
I may buy a flash for my camera I am still doing research on what to buy.
I may also buy the canon 10-22mm lens to get the subjects looking more like there falling into the lens.
So here is one of the photos...
It's gonna be in an mma or boxing ring. One boxer is gonna punch the other and I want to catch it when the other one is falling from the punch.
Can you guys offer tips on best ways to capture this. I will probably need a high shutter speed so will I need to bring and blast a lot of lights?
Anything will help!
Thanks guys.
Use alright Ambient light, wide aperture, and lowish power flash
Tripod + multiple exposures + photoshop layering are your best friends for levitation, never mind this jumping bollocks

It's situational really. Jumping can work well if you jump off a bench.
completely dark room, powerful flash, long exposure. Trip the flash when you want to freeze the motion
That sounds very useful eltro102. So I should have all the lights in the gym turned off?

Do you guys recommend any flashes for my camera the t3i? I have a 200-300$ budget
if you can, yes. The flashes pulse should be fast enough to stop the motion. If you cant get the gym dark, then just go somewhere bright and use a fast shutter speed instead.
Awesome. Will test these techniques. I think the flash would add better light than the gyms natural would possibly.
