• Keyboard opens random shit

Read the title. If I hit the delete button, it opens search. If I press insert, it opens Outlook. I hit enter on the numpad, it restarts my computer. What the fuck is going on and how do I turn it off? It's really annoying to be playing a game and hit delete and it minimizes it so it can open the search option.
[LIST] [*]what keyboard? [*]what OS? [*]did you update drivers? [*]is the keyboard plugged in right? [*]is there any dirt/foreign objects in/on your keyboard? [/LIST]
I had that happen to me, it was broken so I threw it away.
Drivers and whether is plugged in or not seems quite irrelevant, more rather write if any shit has happened to it, or if you installed any software recently. And if the keyboard came with some software.
Its some old emachines keyboard (I know, it works fine or at least it did.) I guess I'll reinstall it or something.
Are you sure one of the keys aren't stuck down causing you to press hotkeys? Sometimes I have my CTRL stuck down.
Yeah they're not stuck. Should I try remapping my keys?
PS/2 or USB? [editline]04:40PM[/editline] I suggest taking all the keys out and cleaning under them if you don't want to spring for a new keyboard.
Ps/2 [editline]10:28PM[/editline] But how would it being dirty fix it?
It shouldent do that on PS2, you either have a virus, or you have a faulty/wrong driver
It must be a faulty driver then because I have a brand new computer and the only part from my old rig is this evil keyboard. So what do I do? Reinstall the drivers?
Bump, yo.
Get a new keyboard
It was probably some weirdass keyboard that was made so it only worked on the old PC or something, seen that once :colbert:, keyboards isnt that expensive, you can get a new good one really cheap
I'm far too lazy and cheap to buy a new one, guess I will though. Oh and this problem was plaguing me on my old one too. It's not a new problem I just tried to avoid it.
