it wouldn't desensitize young people if it wasn't so fucking good
Well maybe if sexual education was a thing and was the first introduction kids got to sex instead of porn maybe they wouldn't get desensitized/"unrealistic expectations of relationships".
"In the forthcoming Digital Economy Bill, we will bring in legislation that will require companies providing pornographic material online to make sure they have a robust age-verification system in place, so that those accessing their websites are over 18."
Oh yes because those age verifications totally work.
how the hell will that work tho
would i have to scan my ID and/or personal information into the system? what if the site got hacked?
Porn is both the best and the worst thing to happen to me, like, ever. Lonely? Porn. Bored? Porn. Boyfriend not in the mood? Porn. It's almost too good a solution, and certainly if I make to regular a use of it, i feel both a bit disgusted with myself and a bit disconnected with the reality of sexuality/sensuality. It's a balancing act that I've never quite gotten right.
Also lol @that age verification bs. That'll totally work.
For people like me who have no opportunity at healthy sexual release, porn is quite useful and I daresay, necessary.
It's a shame there will never be an unbiased study on the effects of porn on mental wellness, I think the true nature would be fascinating.
who cares that it desensitizes people? maybe if the sex ed in schools was actually worth a damn. I got my 'official' sex ed class when I was a junior in high school, and people talked about sex and whatnot in early fucking middle school. it shouldnt be some ultra taboo to teach this sort of stuff in school at a younger age, and teaching it later on just makes it awkward as hell.
I also wouldn't necessarily that all that stuff is necessarily unreasonable to expect in a relationship. It's unreasonable to expect from everyone and every relationship, but I can't help but run into women who are more "corrupted" than I am, wanting to do a whole lot more. Whenever I see stuff like this, I'm wondering if the person who chooses the word "desensitizing" is simply just not used to it because of their age.
I do think that kids should be educated early on. I don't know how but I was sincerely skipped for sexual education. My parents, friends, and the internet basically took the place of sex ed.
EDIT: Guess who didn't read the article! Me. Holy shit.
Yeah, back when I was curious, the one good piece of advice that my dad gave me was to "not treat women like a piece of meat". They're people. I think that understanding is all it takes to fix all this. Too bad a lot of parents don't talk to their kids about it.
I've been desensitized by much worse stuff than porn.
I think to an extent desensitizing younger people to sex and making it seem like something that isn't a big deal will help a lot of teenagers and young adults alike, and of course actually making sexual education an actual talking point in schools
Most young men age ~12-30 count having sex for the first time as a check box

I can watch a dude get his head chopped off by Islamic extremists and just be like "Oh, that sucks." at this point.
The internet is a place that can desensitize you to some extreme shit, porn doesn't desensitize you to anything, at most it will give you an unreasonable expectation for sex, which wouldn't be an issue if sex ed was actually worth anything.
I am not ashamed to admit I am thankful for porn desensitising me. Rather than being the kind of person (during sex) who [sp]cums in only a few seconds[/sp], during my first time I [sp]couldn't even cum at all dammit. She loved it and that's what matters most, but it felt like a damn chore for me lmao[/sp]
All those years of practice with 'edging' and [sp]not settling with regular porn but rather getting into almost messed up fetishes[/sp] paid off.

Using spoiler tags like that made this post feel like a damn chore to read
i like watching porn
and of course i thought that porn was a realistic depiction of sex when i was 12, just like i thought movies depicted love realistically, and law & order was a realistic depiction of police investigations. fortunately i didn't have to deal with any of those things until later in life.
as many have said, the problem lies in proper education. many parents leave it up to the school to inform their children on sex, and the schools do fuck all but scare kids away from it with warnings of needles going up your gennies and surprise babies. if anything, this is renaissance is great as these kids will later understand the importance of sex education.

just watch negative-porn and you'll be sweet bro
Porn is really boring to watch unless you're jerking off. My friend watches porn all the time and he doesn't even jerk off to it. I don't understand how someone could sit down and watch 30 minutes of repetitive action and enjoy it.
It sure is.

You mean you don't enjoy the story of the lonely housewife shagging the pizza delivery boy?
