Pay them minimum wage to go around grabbing recyclables from garbage cans. They can't keep the deposit they get from the cans etc, but they get consistent money. Maybe they can afford to live a little better, eat better, improve their lives somewhat
Then how will the garbage man get his money?
What are you 12? [editline]21st March 2011[/editline] Although it is a charming idea that would work in the right conditions, but come on
or give them food
wow this is so insightful and such a deep and intricate plan, man you must have spent hours coming up with this solution
Where does the money to pay these homeless people appear from?

I have a good way to end poverty. Abolish all forms of currency.

What the fuck? ^
All of the solutions to society's problems can be summarized into two simple sentences.
[img_thumb]http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/6228/1205063946232.jpg[/img_thumb]
The perfect woman? Anyways, OP, that wouldn't work. You would need the money to pay the people, and nothing would really be gained.
I don't think Vancouver has enough litter to supply the amount of homeless they have there.
I have a good way to end poverty. Abolish all forms of currency.
Bartering won't work, since it's considered people in poverty don't have possessions...
Bartering won't work, since it's considered people in poverty don't have possessions...
Well bartering is a form of currency.
Nah guys its a perfect solution. Vancouver has plenty of money to pay some homeless people a shitty wage (lowest in Canada, BC`s minimum wage is) and it will clean up our city. The homeless people here already pick through every single garbage can and find every single recyclable, why not give them a job doing something they already do all day. [editline]21st March 2011[/editline]
Where does the money to pay these homeless people appear from?
Municipality, bro
A lot of homeless people go around collecting recyclables as a source of income anyways.
I have a good way to end poverty. Abolish all forms of currency.
You're insane Doctor Evil!
A lot of homeless people go around collecting recyclables as a source of income anyways.
So why not make it a job they can actually benefit from, meanwhile they're cleaning up our streets. [editline]21st March 2011[/editline] Instead of 5c per can
Just give them all designer jackets and electric razors. If they're going to be sleeping in our flowerbeds, they ought to at least be pleasing to look at.
Or just illegalize being poor and tax the shit out of them, removing their benefits. Can't have poor people if they all starve to death, now can you? :downs: /thread
Why not just give them all a shit load of money! Then they won't be poor anymore! :pseudo:
I have a good way to end poverty. Abolish all forms of currency.
Then how are people to pay for goods? Bartering?
Well bartering is a form of currency.
In this case, we must abolish all objects, because they can be used as currency since I might want to work for someone who has more objects than I do.
Why not just give them all a shit load of money! Then they won't be poor anymore! :pseudo:
They'll just spend it all they're poor what the hell do they know about savings.
Then how are people to pay for goods? Bartering? [editline]21st March 2011[/editline] it was a chaotic way of destroying poverty, not necessarily being an answer to problem.
Technically, the best way to end poverty is to remove money. The reason we have homeless people is because they are unable to obtain the basic human needs. In a society where we can actually trade for goods with something of real meaning. That ends poverty.
I saw a sort of dispenser behind a supermarket I go to that allows you to deposit recyclable bottles in it and you receive the 5 cent deposit for it in return. If more of these are set up around cities then homeless people can at least be able to afford something to eat rather than sitting around and begging all day.
I have a good way to end poverty. Abolish all forms of currency.
It ends your definition of poverty and then creates a million other problems
