• New motherboard not working.

I bought a new motherboard so I could ditch my optiplex GX620, but when I try to move my hard drives to the new computer/tower it goes to the <post> and <bios> screen, but if I hit a button nothing happens. Sometimes it just locks up or the screen just goes to the blinking _ in the corner, but noting happens. I can't even install the disk that came with the mobo. (drivers and utilities) It just doesn't register. Anyone have any suggestions? If it is relevant I am also trying to move 4 gigs of ram and a ATI HD 4650 to the new tower. The motherboard is MSI K9n6pgm2-v2 model no. MS 7309. (need a more specific name. Looking now)
Do you hear any beeps?
Yes. One or two, than shit goes to the black screen with the _
So you've plugged everything in, including RAM, gcard, drives, etc? Look up in your motherboard manual or on the internet what those beeps mean, motherboards beep in a code that lets you know what's going wrong.
Yes everything is most defiantly plugged in. (all but the extra back fan. Can't find a plug for it.) I'll go double check those beeps.
I thought you was required to format windows every time you changed your motherboard?
Fuck. Really? And it's just one beep. Nothing in the user manual about beeps or formatting. The beep also happens at the exact time that the red light for my mouse comes on.
What is the OS? I've heard that Vista and XP give BSoD's when such things happen. I'm not sure what Windows 7 does.
uhm the blinking means it's not reading the drive or cannot boot from it I remember when I used XP I just popped in the windows cd and did a repair when I got a new mobo. it should be that easy

Well, that's good to know.
