You're mixing things up a bit:
The guy was kidnapped by some other people and killed. The police suspects it was a revenge killing over some debt. This has nothing to do with the current unrest in the country. Well, if the government had half a clue on how to solve the rampant crime problems this wouldn't have happened in the first place.
It doesn't matter how good you are at punching dudes if the other guy has a gun...

edit: by shooting an artist you wont become more skillful and by shooting a champion you wont become greater than him.
