Hey all,
I have an Intel i7-930 on an ASUS X58A-UD3R motherboard. I have been running a stock fan for a while, and I would like to switch to an aftermarket cooler that does a better job.
Any recommendations? Price is not that much of a problem, however I would like to keep it relatively cheap as far as coolers go.

make up your mind, with no budget you'll just get told to go make a full watercooling loop and "relatively cheap" means nothing with the huge price range of cooling, compared to a full loop a D14 is "cheap"
Watercooling is out of the question. I would much prefer to remain with an aircooled setup.
Should have specified that, my mistake.
you should also have specified an actual budget
I said, "relatively cheap as far as coolers go." I have never done shopping for aftermarket coolers/fans before. I don't know how much good coolers/fans cost.
But if you must, $100 is my ceiling, judging by what is on Newegg.
I use the Noctua NH-D14 ($90 USD) linky
Never had a problem with it and I've been able to overclock multiple chips up to the 4GHz range with this cooler. Might want to check to make sure it'll fit in your case and over your memory. Friend of mine had to mount it in sideways instead of it being horizontal.
Thanks. Judging by my motherboard layout and the size of it, I think I might need to mount it sideways as well.
Any thoughts on this one? I just came across it on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106150
Hehe, it's called frio. That's spanish for cold.
Buy it.
But really, with the number of reviews it has, and still having a 5 star rating it obviously would be a solid purchase.
I'll give that one a shot. Thanks guys for all of your help!
The older version of the Noctua NH-D14 has 528 5 star ratings, people have been rating the new one poorly because they aren't checking for compatibility.

the frio is awful, it only keeps performance because of the loud high speed fans it uses
meanwhile good coolers like noctua's outperform it while being quieter, with higher quality to boot
and really you're going by newegg reviews, you have no place recommending anything

I'm not recommending solely on newegg reviews, in this case when I was building my pc I checked several different review websites and overclocking forums before making my purchase. I'm also recommending that cooler because in total I've bought three of them for separate computers and had excellent results with them.
