I can finally release the stuff I did last year for my Art & design AS level! I don't have pictures of it all yet so I will update again later (though they're the ones that aren't as good, to be honest since most of these are in my uni application potfolio) [img_thumb]http://u.cubeupload.com/jenny7332/11JenniferZheng.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://u.cubeupload.com/jenny7332/15JenniferZheng.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://u.cubeupload.com/jenny7332/16JenniferZheng.jpg[/img_thumb] Shadow art sculpture final piece for that Apophenia project. The sculpture was a pile of rubbish that when a light was shone on it, produced the shape of a human. I've been busting to pust my work for ages! Thanks for reading.
Nice, that looks far better than my AS portfolio from last year. How well did it go, markwise? And would you mind me posting some of my stuff from then here too? Rather not make another thread Oh and another thing, did the group you did this with produce work of a similar standard? because i've had a look around a whole load of schools, and good art departments are few and far between.
I got 100% Uhhh I guess, why not. Yeah, we had like 12 people in the class last year, everyone got at least a B (maybe one girl got a C, I can't remember) pass at AS. My friend Naomi also got 100% There were like 3 people who sucked ass more last year but they dropped it for A2. Now we have 9 people in the class and the stuff is more or less technically good although some of their stuff is really really boring and there are still 2 people who aren't that technically good. Are you applying for art at uni? [editline]18th November 2011[/editline] Oh and does your exam board have rules against posting images of current project work until the remark deadline?
Neat, I got 100% too. Not sure why, I wrote pretty much all of the annotation and contextual research in a rush the night before the exam. It's good to see work from another department, Everywhere else I've looked it's been dreadful. I went round this one place where every piece, be it still life, self portrait, whatever, was done by taking a photo and copying square by square. I'm applying for a digital art course, seeing as I'm pretty much 50-50 on traditional and digital mediums; I'm hoping for a career in game art. Fingers crossed! And I have no idea. Probably not a good idea, but I don't think it matters all that much EDIT Here's what I ended up with. That's pretty cool! Did you model and texture the whole thing? I hate grids, I see all the current AS students using grids and it's depressing: it's such a stilted way to draw. I'm applying for fineart because I feel that the schools that offer the digital stuff and compensating for being shit unis, but I dunno. Have you got any of your work up stuff?
Yep, made and textured it all, it's based on the room I was working in. Unfortunately that unit consisted of that and hundreds of worksheets explaining how I was putting some sort of conceivable effort in. Point in context: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Dnmj6.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://i.imgur.com/AXetZ.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://i.imgur.com/rJ3dS.jpg[/thumb] Still, 100%'s nothing to complain about. I did some more traditional work for my other unit [thumb]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mSr2q0aftps/TpDDJZG1SWI/AAAAAAAAADw/dGL880gVZrk/s1600/DSCF3185small.jpg[/thumb][thumb]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rHeVd8DurnA/TpNp8Ogq-PI/AAAAAAAAAD4/XFCBPWSMERE/s1600/DSCF3303.jpg[/thumb] I had to keep drawing myself because nobody else would sit still :C
Great work guys, Is that first drawing of the person with a white cloth on their face inspired by that artist who saw his/her mother drown? or is it just my mind. I also love the shadow garbage sculpture, it's really creative, Keep up the good work.
Thanks :) Oh you mean Rene Magritte? I actually drew the cloth covered head before I knew who he was but my teacher told me afterwards so I decided to make a contextual page on him as well. Most of your figure stuff is fantastic, and I [b]love[/b] the clothed faces. You could really powerfully represent something with them.
great stuff jenny! also i'm laughing because i did a trash-shadow-sculpture-face thing for my AS art too, haha
Holy sweet ham-on-a-stick those are good Also, what is AS art?
AS is the first part of A levels, which is what you study at college/sixth form from 16-18 AS is the first year A2 is the second year combined you get an A level [editline]23rd November 2011[/editline] AS - Advanced Subsidiary
[QUOTE=Autumn;33402821]great stuff jenny! also i'm laughing because i did a trash-shadow-sculpture-face thing for my AS art too, haha[/QUOTE] Haha great minds think alike. [editline]23rd November 2011[/editline] HOLY FUCKING SHIT I GOT AN INTERVIEW AT OXFORD (for fine art) excuse me while I go wee myself constantly for the next two weeks.
excellent! that's great news :D which college? (out of interest!)
St Catherines They have a practical exam :S.
ah cool! well the best of luck!
I did AS level in art when I lived in England. I'm really sorry that my host family in the UK wouldn't help sending my stuff to Denmark when I moved back so I don't have any of the original artwork and I only have one photo of a watercolor piece I did. But yeah, Jenny and Gothic, you've both done some really impressive work - definitely better than what I managed to do.
Man that sucks, transporting art work is so difficult. I feel your pain. Royalmail is pretty inconsistant, I sent a piece of cake to Leeds once, they never got it and a month later it came back to me all mouldy. T'was pretty nasty.
cool stuff, really nice life drawing! good luck with oxford
