all I saw in that trailer was not what Dead Space was originally
oh well, I guess it'll appeal to other people that don't like the survival/horror genre
I have to admit, getting to kill bigass worm thingies might be quite fun.

yeah fuk ea ruining such a great horror franchise amirite?
No. Fuck you. Fuck people continually accusing this game of changing the tone of the franchise. It's not. At all. I'm getting progressively more annoyed by all the ignorant complaining. None of you naysayers actually played DS1 or 2, did you?

Look at that, epitome of horror, right? So scary. Fuck DS3 for being so drastically different.
Hell, even DS1 wasn't far off.

Now granted a lot of this trailer is scene-setting (and the choice of music is a lot better than in the other two trailers) but the last thirty or so seconds are still "VIOLENCEVIOLENCEKILLKILLKILL". Dead Space has always been an action game with grotesque, horror-themed atmosphere. DS3 changes NOTHING.
I'm getting sick of this too. DS is not about being scary, it's supposed to be the perfect mix of horror and action, which DS1 and 2 were, and by the looks of it, DS3 will be as well
I expected that trailer to be hilariously bad, but that was awesome.
I expected that trailer to be hilariously bad, but that was awesome.
Was I the only one who thought it was shitty the showed a scene with Ellie from later in the snow planet helping Issac? I thought she was supposed to be this game's Nicole.
'EA ruined it.'
Well you must have obviously forgot they published the first two games too.

Calm down. The thing that's bugging me is that if this is popular (and it will be), EA will pull the sort of micro transaction bullshit and other bad decisions all over their games. I know I can ignore them, but I know that they will put me at a disadvantage, much like the dodge roll tactics. Spending £50 on a game and not using half the content seems overpriced.
I'm not going to complain about it though as I'm blessed with more patience than most and will buy it in a sale for £4.99 in a few years.
The only thing I don't like about it is at the end when he jumps off that cliff, sure it looks dramatic but come on Isaac you're smarter than that.

actually I played both of them, and from what I've gathered, DS1 and DS2 were a lot more based off of being a horror, while containing action.
From what I've seen, and heard from the devs themselves in news, they've changed the game up. So by definition, I'm already right, the devs admitted they changed the game to be 'less' scary. Doesn't mean that it isn't like DS1/DS2, it just isn't going to be nearly the same. It's focusing on other areas to draw bigger crowds in.
DS3 could have done better. Guess I'll have to wait and see some gameplay from people for actual judgement.

You're still technically wrong about DS2. Yes DS1 was horror, they wanted a horror based game with some action in it. In DS2 they even said themselves that it was going to be more action packed and contain less horror.

DS3 really does change a lot, it plays as a way more actiony TPS than a slow horror action TPS.
It honestly feels like GoW with necromorphs from playing the demo.
Also you missed a trailer.

And this one for Dead Space 2

While I disagree with the transition to action it does make alot of sense.
You think, after surviving TWO necromorph outbreaks, alone, that Issac Clarke would still give a shit?
No, he would be the definition of a bad-ass fearless exterminator, it just makes sense, I highly doubt ANYTHING would scare him much anymore.
If you want a horror game again it'll have to be rebooted with a new character and new premise.

Haha. No. I've beaten all the GoW games and DS3 feels NOTHING like it. The demo felt like Dead Space but a bit more faster paced IMO.
GoW gameplay for reference (not my video, I chose the one that came up first. Skip to 0:22 to get past the stupid intro.).

This and also.
Dead space has been gearing up for Human enemies since the beginning. In DS2 we came really bloody close to it on multiple occasions and in DS1 there was hardly anyone alive to be a human threat but there still was human *enemies*.
IT was going to happen eventually.

Those trailers are pure and complete utter WHACK to play as a commercial on the TV compared to this:

Oh, and I did play DS1 and 2, and at least DS1 had what it took to be called a horror game more than an action game.
(and apparently, I'm late...)

Yeah... Right when they milked the plot further for no reason whatsoever, with the bonus of adding gimmicky shit to the game and even other kinds of shit that don't belong in a singleplayer game at all.

There's only so much you can do with enemies that aren't using weaponry before it gets stale. Fighting Necromorph after Necromorph just by backing away and plucking off limbs would get old. Having to actually put proper, hard cover between you and the enemies changes it up enough to keep it interesting. Especially if they somehow excuse the enemies being (slightly smarter too similarly to how RE4 used the Plagas to explain it).

That's why you end it before, as you said, gets too stale, OR in this case, changes course to crash.

There are much more interesting ways human opposition could have been done without reducing it to stupid, ineffective grunts and suicide bombers, what with all the examples of military and mining vehicles we've seen.
Not to mention the Oracles, who were powerful, creepy as hell and mysterious in both Severed and Salvage.

Things changed.
I'm not looking forward to the terrible PC port of this game, but that was a really well-made trailer.

Remember when EA released this extremely well received gem with great DRM and everyone loved them? Back then I'm sure people went around crying about how EA "used to be better" too. Nothing changes.

Lets have a quick thought experiment shall we?
Put yourself in the publishers shoes for a minute: the last two games sold pretty well for their genre, making a profit. Do you make a new game and generate possible profit (pleasing your shareholders and making more dolla)? Or just stop and hope your earnings for the year are still good enough?
Put yourself in the developers shoes: you have created this expansive universe, with a lot of detail that you have only managed to touch on in the last few games. The fans clearly want to see more of the game, but you think the game might be stale. Do you create a new game, and change some mechanics to stop it being stale, allowing you to explore the world you made more, risking bad feedback? Or just cut your losses and hope your publisher is cool with that?
There are right and wrong answers to both of those, I think you know which ones are right. If not, you're deluded.
