Court finds that 12,213 'ecstasy' pills were actually caffeine
A man was acquitted of drug trafficking today after a court found that what were supposed to be 12,213 ecstasy pills were actually caffeine pills.Joseph Buttigieg, 39 of Marsa, was arrested after a raid on his house. The pills were found in his night table.
He told the police that he had been taking cocaine for 10 years and ecstasy for three years.
However a chemist told the court that the drugs found in Mr Buttigieg's house were actually caffeine, which was a stimulant which did not fall within the controlled drugs law.
The court said the court could not find the accused guilty of drug trafficking, once the pills were not ecstasy.
However the accused himself had admitted to having been in possession of ecstasy and cocaine. He had claimed to have taken as many as 50 pills a day, because the pills were not any good. Indeed, they were not ecstasy.
He was found guilty of cocaine possession in view of his admission, and sentenced to four months jail suspended for 18 months.
50 pills at a time thinking they could be Ecstasy...
Pure Caffeine is extremely dangerous...
So he also thought they were XTC pills? And took 50 a day?
And he didn't find this one bit weird?

Haha he got mugged off a treat

Yeah, but at this point he could have been snorting powdered sugar for all they knew. The admission of guilt isn't the same as actually being guilty.
In America, I'm pretty sure they have to test the drug before they can charge you with anything.
It might be different though if he openly admitted to using it cocaine or x.
Heh. Reminds me of a kid I knew back in high school that had a stash of pills he'd take daily. Thought they were ecstasy as well.
The man-boobies must be a plus in prison.
if you take ecstasy tablets expecting it to be pure MDMA or even have MDMA in it you've fucked up
err that was assuming these are the round pressed pills, those are rarely pure

I've had some great mints in my time (pressed pills) and they always feel slightly different than pure molly, so yeah I'd say you're right.
Pure Caffeine is extremely dangerous...
it's a little dangerous if you're an idiot, but it's far from "extremely dangerous", I use pure anhydrous caffeine often
lol nice police work guys

Fun Fact: Caffeine is actually the defense mechanism to kill insects that try eating it
[del]lol ironic for that plant because its greatest evolutionary victory is its downfall[/del] not really

Suspended means if he fucks up during an 18 month period he will go to jail. Jeez, vocabulary guys.
Makes me think of that Inbetweeners episode where the shit-talking one (forgot his name) tries to gets drugs, but ends up with torn up PG Tips.
With that said, he must've been getting them somewhere, there must've been some reason he had caffeine pills, was he a mule or something, or maybe someone expendable to be used only for the money then ditching him if he gets caught? maybe the drug sellers knew he was a loose cannon and gave him fakes?
I don't know if that would actually be a downfall. Coffee will probably exist forever since we find it so useful and therefore will keep growing more of it.
actually got me there, that is one of the main reasons cows are in huge supply and pandas are dying out.

Or knew he was gullible enough to not verify his products, and were making some money off of selling him full legal products at a huge markup at their end. That sounds like something I would do.

Fact: Drug users don't have family, friends, or jobs, and matter less than other people.
