The Manhattan DA’s office won’t press charges against one of the motorcycle thugs who allegedly terrorized and beat a man after a wild chase on the West Side Highway, and is reluctant to prosecute another, sources said Wednesday.
Allen Edwards, 43, of Queens, who allegedly smashed Alexian Lien’s rear driver’s side window with his fist, surrendered to cops Tuesday morning but will not be charged, the sources said.

Another source said prosecutors were reluctant to charge a second biker, Christopher Cruz, 28, of Passaic, N.J., who brake-checked the SUV so the bikes could take over the road.
There's another video of the same biker gang doing the same thing from 2011. These assholes need to be charged
Guess which DA's in their back pocket.
Its terrible when you see DA's reluctant to charge people. The evidence is pretty fucking strong here.
Yikes, I feel bad for any responsible rider in NY now. It's going to be fucking open season.
Frankly I think everyone in that mob deserves to be charged
Strange, in Sweden they are required by law to press charges. Doesn't America have something similar?
I tought deviantart :VVVs
So how long before this happens again only it's someone who they really shouldn't have fucked with and someone gets killed.

Nope. Its up to the DA to approve the charges (that the police bring him) against the people
So how long before this happens again only it's someone who they really shouldn't have fucked with and someone gets killed.
like me heh
Strange, in Sweden they are required by law to press charges.
I highly doubt that, every accusation going to court would completely overwhelm the system.
Good, they were both wrong for what happened so charge no one.
this is a case of bikers going out of control, ya i feel bad that a guy got run over and is probably going to die, but if you watch the video they swarmed the guy's car, if i had a wife and children in the car with me i would probably have slammed it into reverse instead of running over the guy but i'm pretty sure they had surrounded the guy from behind too
Good, they were both wrong for what happened so charge no one.
How were they both wrong
An idiot biker purposely caused an accident then his group of idiot friends started threatening the driver who fled
i just feel that nobody is going to really win in this case though, the guy did run over the bikers, but the bikers did scare the living shit out of him, also they chased and beat him with helmits so that.
this is just not going to end nicely
Strange, in Sweden they are required by law to press charges. Doesn't America have something similar?
The prosecutors here get discretion. It makes sense from the point of view that asks why would you press charges if you know you will lose? Why force the prosecutor to present a case with no chance of being 'worth' the trouble?
The downside is the prosecutor decides what is worth it and what is not. And prosecutors are not motivated by a sense of justice. Sometimes this means dumb cases are decided to be worth it, politically like the Zimmerman cases, while other cases are decided to not be worth it, like this case.
Man if these guys keep going around doing this sorta shit...
Let's just say there's going to be a high demand for stuff like guns and armored cars.
Honestly I don't know. It just seems so crazy that a giant ass group of thugs could go around and do stupid crap like block traffic and what not. My mother got pulled over once for going a little to fast around an intersection corner soo... How does that work?
I highly doubt that, every accusation going to court would completely overwhelm the system.
Accusation? This is when a investigation has been launched by the police, that they are required to press charges.

Bad on bikers because you obviously shouldn't assault someone.
Bad on the stupid driver because he fled from everyone nearly hitting people causing damage to the bikes all because he's been threatened. That's like shootin someone because they threatened you. I've never whitenessed a car accident where someone didn't threaten someone because of what you did.

Well yeah, generally the police will investigate any accusation. What happens there if the police conclude that the accusation is unfounded after investigating though?

What was the person supposed to do, sit there and let the bikers pull him out of his car and violently attack him and his family?
Because that's what ended up happening anyway.
Christopher Cruz needs to recieve the maximum sentence for all his infractions.
His brake check stunt basically led to a man being paralyzed and another man being assaulted.

What the hell, that a terrible analogy. This was a gang of bikers surrounding him and his family and they were slashing his tires. That's a far more dangerous situation than being threatened by a single driver.

Ooops sorry I misspoke, the charges are pressed after the police´s investigation or in the later stages when they have sufficient evidence, and if the police conclude that the accusation is baseless then they won't do anything.

Yeah if you're being threatened by dozens of people at once the only really responsible thing you can do is flee. Anything else and you're just going to get yourself killed.
What other evidence do they need?

In an attempt to flee from the lynch mob yes
what dont you guys understand about the guy driving through the biker? what would you do if you were swarmed by an angry mob who's anger is gonna be directed towards you even though it wasnt your fault? especially since your wife and young child is in the car with you? just let the swarm of angry bikers come at you and your family? i would have done what that man did except in reverse, your family > than a bunch of reckless thugs

I don't even know why he stopped. He should've put it in reverse and ran over any thug that got in his way.
From what I hear the driver will likely never walk again.

Bad on the bikers for breaking a shit load of road/traffic laws such as driving without licenses, and driving unregistered vehicles, then intimidating drivers and initiating a confrontation / attack on the driver and his family.
Good on the driver for fleeing, taking out parts of the threat, and making the choice to attempt to flee for his own safety. It's not like shooting someone that THREATENED YOU, it's like shooting someone who is A DIRECT THREAT TO YOUR SAFETY and YOUR FAMILIES SAFETY. The bikers didn't THREATEN him they WERE A THREAT.
You are the only person in this world responsible for your safety, no matter what ANYONE says it is you and only you. The police won't be there in a moments notice and decisions have to be made to defend your life, family, and property.

I don't want to get into specifics - but shooting someone because they threatened you can be very valid. Depends on the type of threatening of course, but if they threaten in such a way, you can assume immediate harm might come to, then yes you are in the right more often than not.
