• Iceland gets another vulcanic eruption
Iceland's most active volcano, Grimsvotn, has started erupting, scientists say. The volcano, which lies under the Vatnajokull glacier in south-east Iceland, last erupted in 2004. In 2010, plumes of ash from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano caused weeks of air travel chaos across Europe. Scientists say the latest eruption is unlikely to cause similar problems, although it may trigger localised flooding. Volcanic eruptions are common in Iceland, which lies along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge that divides the Eurasian and North American continental plates. Icelandic Meteorological Office geologist Hjorleifur Sveinbjornsson told Reuters that Grimsvotn had thrown a plume of white smoke about 15km (nine miles) into the air. "It can be a big eruption, but it is unlikely to be like last year," he added. Last year's outpouring of ash from Eyjafjallajokull led to the largest closure of European airspace since World War II. About 10 million travellers were affected and some questioned whether the shutdown was an over-reaction. However, a scientific study published last month said the safety concerns had been well founded. Researchers from the University of Copenhagen and the University of Iceland said ash particles from the early part of the Eyjafjallajokull eruption were especially abrasive, posing a possible threat to aircraft. I can't take anything happening in Iceland seriously with names that look like they resulted from some guy hitting a keyboard with a mallet.
I was just about to post this.

Eyjafjallajokull what the shit

why are there so many damn eruptions in bjorkland?
The sad thing is that they'll use this as "evidence" for the rapture bullshit.
why are there so many damn eruptions in bjorkland?
Probably cause Iceland is a really young Island. Still have eruptions creating new islands once in a while. Check out Surtsey Reached surface in '63

Waiting for good old Harold to say this has to do with his end of the world predictions.
Fuck's sake Iceland you decided to have your volcano erupt today?! Now those moronic 21'st believers will use this as some sort of proof that their calculations were somewhat right.
It doesn't matter if they try to use this, a volcano simply erupting does not equal millions of people in unmarked graves as they said would happen.
It doesn't matter if they try to use this, a volcano simply erupting does not equal millions of people in unmarked graves as they said would happen.
Still, they could say shit like "Oh wait we were wrong a bit. The calculations pointed out the day the end of the world will start, the end of the world will be x!!!" or whatever.
I can't take anything happening in Iceland seriously with names that look like they resulted from some guy hitting a keyboard with a mallet.
Well Grimsvotn sort of looks like a word, unlike Eyjafjallajokull.
Oh boy oh boy. A friend of mine is supposed to go to Spain, guess she'll be disappointed
Probably not.
Scientists say the latest eruption is unlikely to cause similar problems
My dad needs to get out of the country on Monday to avoid paying some taxes, I hope this doesn't stop air traffic.

Ah fuck me now the 21th may end of the world freaks will relate it to this somehow.
Bloody Mr. Spock
It won't be the start of rapture. It is the start of something so much worse

Looks like those Christians were predicting a volcanoic eruption, not the end of the world. They should be Volcanologist. [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] They don't need machines, God will tell them when shit goes down.
I hope it does.
What he's doing isn't illegal, he works out of the country for more than 1/2 the year and doesn't have to pay tax on certain things - He's not one of those tax evaders you see on tv but does avoid paying tax in some aspects.
