Is it Damnit or Dammit?
I'm thinking it's dammit because spellcheck says damnit is wrong.
well damn is a word, but damm isn't.
So I go with damnit.
I, personally, spell it "damnit", even though auto correct suggests "dammit".
The correct way would be Damn it with the space, thus the closest thing to properly spelling it is damnit
The correct way would be Damn it, with the space,
holy shit genius
"Damn it" would be the correct answer.
I just go with what chrome tells me
Dammit

I did say the closest thing would be damnit though.
Asking the expert on this subject, brb.
EDIT: Catcher in the Rye says "Damn it". Thus the master, Holden, has spoken.
"dammit" is correct however "damnit" makes more sense.
It's
"Damnit"
The word or phrase comes from the word 'Damn' which is to condemn or prosecute something or someone. So to "Damn them to hell" is to condemn them to hell.
So Damnit, would be an extension of damn. To damn "it"

At least, that's what I grew up believing. Though Google now tries to correct me to "Dammit", maybe it's a similar situation to the whole "Ain't" addition to the dictionary a decade or so ago.
Dammit is apparently correct but I prefer and use damnit, since it's 'damn it'.
It's like alot and a lot. Damnit and Damn it
Except alot isn't a word.
Damn-It :smug:

In my book it's Damn it.
The answer is dammit, damnit is wrong. Your spell check is telling you it's wrong for a reason. It's not a coincidence that every browser's spell check is saying dammit, not just one.
Either way works for me.
damn it
