Norway experiences worst floods in 70 years
Norways water and energy directory (NVE) didn't send out flood-warnings before the disaster had happened in the little town of Ålen, by the river Gaula in south Trødelag.
Gaula had it's worst flood since 1940, Tuesday morning.
Citizens tell of a flood that came suddenly and took cars and materials with it. Rescue personnel feared houses would be taken by the enormous amounts of water flooding into the village center.
Many people had to be evacuated by helicopters. Bridges and roads were ruined due to the flood and many people in the small city Aungrenda are completely isolated.[/release]

This is quite similar to last months' flooding in Notodden, Norway;

And the flooding in Gudbransdalen in June;

With some of the worst floods in more then 70 years, I can say, this ain't the best year to be a southern Norwegian.

I want to ride that rollercoaster.
I feel bad for those people. Norway is an awesome country, with in general, very friendly people. Glad the government has plenty of resources to help them out.
wow poor norway
Best of luck to Norway in dealing with this.
Norway certainly hasn't been having it easy the past few months. I'm sure they'll pull through, however.
Many hearts go out to norway.
Woah, this seems alot worse than i'd imagined.
Still, you'll pull through Gudbransbros.
There's actually a danger that our hillside house will slide down like this one did earlier this year;

Our house is on a very slanted hill, so much so in fact that you enter the house on one side at the third floor, while the veranda on the back is on the first floor, and exiting there you can go down to the lower garden.
There's a 12 meter height difference between the front and back lawns.

Oho, I'm glad I finished the year at that town just now. Took a train on the very right track in that picture.
Just when I thought there was Norway shit could get any worse.
wow poor norway
Not really a big problem.
We have these longboats for emergencies like this, see?
And besides thanks to quick helicopter evacuations and swift response times no one has been injured or killed in the current floods.

[editline]16th August 2011[/editline]
It seems whenever evil happens the floods come.
The last flood this bad came right after Germany invaded Norway in 1940.
Now it comes after Anders.
There's a huge rainstorm in my town right now.
Thought of that immediatelly, hah.
Poor Norway though.
i love norway since your mountains and shit stop most of the rains that comes to me ;)

That would be a really cool place to live, minus the floods of course.

It's a very typical Eastern Norwegian valley.
Looks like a typical Finnish valley now with all that water to make up for the lakes.
I hope brevik drowned.

Quite a shame.
What has Norway ever done?
Glad I kept the Norway flag on my avatar, best of wishes to you guys over there!
many mother nature is changing, feels like a cataclysm this year.

Well, here's a video:

Title says "Disappointed flood victim saved by digger - "I was looking forward to being saved by helicopter""
Hahahaha!
I'm sorry, but amidst the floods and all this, this is pretty hilarious.
I think I speak for all of our Scandinavian brethren when I wish you the best of luck. I hope that no one gets hurt.
Well, thanks to an anti-flood system in the sewers Ålen is now safe.
There's still a danger it'll flood a tad further south still.
