Can anyone give me a Hard Drive Partition configuration explanation

I have 3 500gb hard drives. Here is the current setup:
1st drive is split ( 100gb for my main install / 400gb for my games )
2nd drive is for files (movies music etc)
3rd drive is a personal and development drive (projects, school, docs)
Is there any advantage to having that 400gb partition or does it just slow me down? I plan on getting a 2tb to replace the 2nd drive, then using that 2nd drive to RAID 1 with the 3rd.
Should I get a dedicated games drive? If yes, explain, I need numbers and articles ;)
Partitioning a drive doesn't slow it down, and gives you the advantage of being able to wipe one partition (i.e. to reinstall your OS) without affecting the other.
But, you can't RAID 1 a 2TB one with a 500GB one... ?
-snip-
realised he meant to use the old 2nd
Well you have to understand my concern, one needle for my OS AND my games... is there any speed issue?
Also, yes roast, that is why i did that that way, to be able to reinstall in 2 hours flat ;)

I don't think it makes a difference. Don't quote me on that.

If there is one then it's almost certainly too small to notice. Incidentally, your setup is almost the same as mine (except for the drive sizes).
