• Friend Deleted his Documents Folder

My friend on Steam deleted his Documents folder "on accident" about five months ago. He needs that to play some of his games (like Borderlands). If I sent him a copy of my documents and he put it in the right place, would it work? He's tried creating a folder named "Documents" but that didn't work and this is the only thing we can think of.
He didn't do anything to fix it 5 months ago?
He didn't do anything to fix it 5 months ago?
He didn't know until he tried launching Borderlands and it didn't work.

he deleted his files. they will not magically come back if you replace the location with Your files. it's like saying , page 1 of the book is missing, lets put in my phonebook page and it will magically become page 1 of the story in the book.

And yeah, he doesn't use his PC much. He's a console gamer.

Being computer illiterate (from your description), my guess is he hasn't emptied his recycle bin since then. Just restore it out of there.
One time I accidentally moved my user folders (all of them, don't ask) into the music folder and then deleted them. It took me two hours to clean up my mess. Just making a folder named "documents" won't work. Get him to follow this guide. It applies to Vista and W7. In some cases, just typing shell:Personal into the start menu and hitting enter, closing the window that pops up, and then logging off/back on will recreate it. If not, he'll have to follow deeper into that guide.
No offense, but that hardly surprises me then.
Why would it be surprising for someone primarily accustomed to a console to be less proficient with a PC? Hell, I'm an expert PC user and I wouldn't expect to have to follow a freaking guide to restore a Documents folder. What the heck were they thinking?
What suprises me is that things bork out at all when your documents get removed. I never tried it but, I would count on Windows 7 remaking them normally, no?

It's just when they changed its name to Documents they made My Documents link to Documents. So Documents is just a regular folder more or less.

If so, where are the actual folders stored? (Assuming you haven't moved them using the location tab)

You can also delete the links. You just can't access them (denied).
