Baltimore County Police are investigating a confirmed shooting at Perry Hall High School.
Mike Hellgren has the breaking details.
Police say a student has been shot and one suspect is in custody. A young man without a shirt was seen by Sky Eye Chopper 13 being escorted to a police cruiser in handcuffs.
The injured student will be flown by Medevac to the hospital. That person’s condition is not known.
There are unconfirmed reports the shooting happened in the school cafeteria and the victim was shot in the back.
Calls started coming in Tuesday shortly before 11 a.m. Fire crews and police cars are on the scene.
Sky Eye Chopper 13 is over the scene and shows sharpshooters and helicopters.
Students are also now seen leaving the school in an orderly manner. They are being evacuated to Perry Hall Shopping Center across the street from the school at the corner of Ebenezer Road and Belair Road. Parents can be reunited with their children there.
Monday was the first day of school in Perry Hall. About 2,300 students attend the school. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan visited the school last week.

I used to go to this school. It's a dump. Mixture of ghetto and racist. It's horrible just like this story...
God damn it.
There is a lot of shootings lately
(Why all the dumbs?)
There is a lot of shootings lately
(WHAT COULD HAVE POSSIBLY CAUSED ALL THESE SHOOTINGS?)
More media coverage. Shootings happen all the time.
probably just some grudge, maybe even gang related.
Less of a school shooting and more of a shooting that took place in a school if you get what I'm trying to say.
[editline]27th August 2012[/editline]
and its bodymore murderland, there's shootings daily.

Gears of Halo: Modern Offensive.
At least it's only one person.

Yeah, sad but true. I find it sad that Baltimore is only known for how shitty it is.
We don't even have a good baseball team for fuck's sake.
i thought it was summer :S
What else can we say ? how can we know summer is over without a good old fashion school shooting ? huh ?

I see you haven't been following the O's this year. They're actually doing pretty well.

For once.
There is a lot of shootings lately
(Where is that video when you need it)
That video is plastered everywhere before anyone even knows anything about what happen.
More media coverage. Shootings happen all the time.
Shootings at schools and the Empire State Building don't happen all the time, and if they did they would still get media coverage. There are actually more shootings happening lately.
But it's still probably coincidence, though
More media coverage. Shootings happen all the time.
Shootings yes, but not school, theater, and Empire State Building shootings.
We need to just do what that one video said about reporting mass shootings.

Good lord guys that video doesn't apply to every shooting situation. The Empire State Building shooting had to do with a personal problem, not the fucking media. This very well could be the same way.

I'm not saying it's encouraging this shooting, but it can encourage another one.
Both this and the empire state shooting seemed to have only one target in mind, rather than mass murder. The only thing that makes these different than the shit that happens on a weekly basis in big cities (looking at you, Chicago) is location.
If it weren't for the supposed "wave" of mass shootings being reported lately, this wouldn't even make national news. This isn't Columbine, one kid brought a gun to school and shot another kid.
Given that he shot one kid, and went into custody seemingly without a fight, I'm willing to bet this has something to do with a summer fued between the two. Perhaps gang related, perhaps bullying, or maybe something stupid like your average highschool fight. Either way, this punk wanted to get the final word and now just threw away his life.
But it's my right to carry a dangerous weapon!

Ugh, Baltimore. Where at least 25% of the populations has HIV/AIDS.
Doesn't surprise me. Baltimore is to Detroit what Detroit is to most other people.

No shit seriously? I used to go here too, and it's no Dulaney, I'll say that much.
Pretty fucking crazy that this happened so close to home though.

This is Baltimore COUNTY, not the city.

We are apparently BARELY behind Detroit who is number one for violent crime in the US.
I used to live in Baltimore County. My dad still does. A few years back he was stabbed in the back with a knife while he was working in Baltimore City. My dad turned around and knocked the asshole right the fuck out.

Yeah, my parents and a lot of my family friends have stores in Baltimore city and I'm always afraid something like this will happen. But Baltimore can be a safe place to live if you avoid wandering around at night, and the Inner Harbor area is actually a decent place to live/visit. Shows like "The Wire" make the city seem worse than it is.
Shootings happen all the time.
Maybe that should be changed
Good luck stopping news coverage of shootings.
Most shootings are not the product of media coverage.
Maybe that should be changed
As long as there are guns and people with an agenda, there will be shootings.
First of all, I just graduated from this school last year and it definitely not a shitty school or area. It's not all gangsters and racist like Faze has been making it seem. The problem with the school is that it's the largest school in the entire county. It's a giant melting pot of people from the city, the country, and the suburbs. There is literally every type of person going to this school and it's overcrowded.
But there is so much good in the school as well, it's one of the highest rated schools in the state with AP test scores through the roof and so many talented singers, writers, musicians and the like. The time that I went there were a few petty fights mostly among minorities and 1 on 1 quarrels. Only 1 a year, maybe 2 or 3 on a bad year, nothing too bad.
I've been contacting all of my friends who still go there and apparently the kid was an emo/scene/goth kid who was getting picked on so he left the building and came back with a shotgun and shot at the kids who were throwing shit at him and right after that one of the guidance counselors who I knew slammed him into the vending machines, threw the gun to the ground after the shooter got another shot off into the roof. My friends in there said everyone was running or hiding under the tables and some people were getting trampled.
Also, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

I was there back in 2004. I grew up in PA. This school was the total opposite from what I grew up with most of my life. I heard the N word and saw more fights in the 4 months I went there than I had ever seen in my entire life. The second half of junior year sucked. It's a mixture of rednecks and inner city Baltimore. Not a good combo. The only reason test scores are high is because there are a shit ton of nerds in the school. There are also a shit ton of ghetto ass motherfuckers in this school that ruin the experience for everyone else.
At least there wasn't a shooting when I was there, but this is a sign that things are getting worse.
