Ubisoft is committed to making a new Assassin's Creed game every year and is determined not to see the series collapse from franchise fatigue. How?
"We are making sure the teams who are creating the different iterations have enough time—two years, three years, so that they can take risk and they can change the concept enough so that it can be appealing and fresh," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told me this week during E3.
He said Ubisoft currently has three Assassin's Creed games in development. He didn't say anything about them, but it's easy to make some safe guesses. Presumably the count of three refers to 1) this year's game, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, 2) next year's game (Assassin's Creed V? Assassin's Creed Brotherhood II?), which should be well into development now and, 3) unless he was referring to a mobile spin-off or something, 2015's Assassin's Creed.
It's Kotaku... but it wouldn't surprise me if this was true.
I don't see the problem. Ubisoft is a fucking enormous company and the Assassin's Creed games have ridiculously high production values for how frequently they are released, so it makes sense that they're working on them this far in advance.
this is the part where they milk Assassin's Creed until it dies
Man, they weren't kidding three or four years ago when they said "With this plot structure, we can make annual Assassin's Creed games forever."
Seriously, this and Modern Warfare just need to die already.
Have they added a hard difficulty yet? I haven't bothered after the second or their AC because its so damn easy. You can literally get through the game without getting hit once, and without using stealth at all.
Needs Modern/Futuristic Assassins' Creed.

if they can evolve gameplay or create new and good worlds and do a good job doing it(which they mostly have) then why not
Current / Next
and a PS Vita / 3DS / Phone spinoff.
yay more AC games for me to get bored of!
The segments in Assassin's Creed 3 where you had to recover the artifacts in the present day were neat and could provide for a cool installment into the series.
I figured that after the Revolutionary War setting, a gold rush setting would be cool (Freerunning in San Francisco!)
i stopped caring about AC after the third one, i don't want to be let down again

the ship parts were cool and i get how the fourth one is trying to play heavily on this but the majority of the game was really boring. AC2 remains the best in the series for me

it really doesn't surprise me how ubisoft is trying to make AC into Madden or CoD, but idk how that will hold up after a while
Do you know what really confuses me?
Assassins Creed: Black Flag has you play the part of an infamous pirate right? So how the fuck does being an infamous pirate, a well known local/sea faring dick smoker benefit someone who somewhat frequently partakes in such clandestine operations as fucking assassinations?
I burnt out on Assassin's Creed after Brotherhood, it's just the same stuff over and over again with the occasional new side mission added in.

This is the part when you fall down and get milked to death!

I feel like the game has turned more into a "Experience the past as an overpowered human being" simulator. It's cool to see old cities fully rendered into video games.

Well to be fair the "Assassins" group in the series is more a rebel group that's against the "Templars" group than an actual assassination organization. There are people that's part of the assassin group that aren't remotely close to an assassin e.g Da Vinci.
Not surprised, going to beat it to death until it can't move anymore.
The first one was really fun though, I loved jumping off tall buildings into hay bales.

Right but the problem is that the guy you play is quite obviously a trained assassin in some way, so why the fuck is he a pirate, it's completely counter intuituve.
It was stated since the first that they have different studios working on each installment, that way each one has years of work, but more releases.

I seriously dont think you can compare the 2... I feel the AC series has so much more to offer in terms of story, gameplay, depth, and scope than the CoD series. Literally any point in time can be used in an AC game and it makes sense... all of human history is their playground. As opposed to CoD which usually involves sand, foreign terrorists, and higher-res models of the same guns.

And dogs
I promised myself that if the Revelations ended with a cliff hanger like all those before it I would never play an AC game again because its getting fucking stupid.
Needless to say it ended in a cliff hanger and I havn't played an AC game since. Nor do I have the urge to do so.
It's Kotaku so I'm going to take this with a few hundred grains of salt.
However, if it's even remotely true then I only have this to say...
Goddammit, Ubi! Even I'm getting fed up with this shit!
I don't mind more AC games but I wish they'd wait a couple of years instead of rushing them out the door.
And people will still buy all of them and they will get filthy stinking rich and keep doing it forever and ever.

They will only die when people stop buying.
I don't get how you guys are agreeing to both supporters and non-supporters, but my opinion is that I don't see a big problem with it either. All I see is that they are putting more time into the games.

Modern Warfare needs to die, not Assassin's Creed considering Assassin's Creed is actually good and they take their time with it. Plus it's not terrible.

Modern Warfare is already dead though. Ghosts is a different game. Also opinions

It's not an opinion that each Assassin's Creed game brings more to the table than each Call of Duty game does. That's a technological fact.
i just got a hold of a leaked box art for the 2015 assassin's creed looks like they pushed the release date forward to 2014 so they have 2014 and 2014 2 now
