The dev mode has been known about for a while now, yet MS hasn't do a hotfix or a update to remove the functionality?

As long as it makes people buy another console
Hey BBC, you're only a day or two late.
How stupid can you be to try that?

They're always late.
As long as it makes people buy another console
Yeah they totally don't have that nice exchange program or anything
The dev mode has been known about for a while now, yet MS hasn't do a hotfix or a update to remove the functionality?
The point is that small devs won't have to pay $2500 for a developer Xbox One, and this is a really limited issue. Removing the functionality would be stupid.

Not everyone reads gaming journalism sites. BBC's coverage will warn more people and ultimately prevent more fuckups.
Anyone stupid enough to fall for that deserves the brick. I mean it fucking said freeze on the commands.
Okay, couple of things
Unfortunately, anyone following this advice who was not an actual Xbox game developer and who did not have a real ID would put their console into an endless start-up loop. Worse, there is no way to undo the damage once the console has been "bricked".
This implies that the ID you enter doesn't matter, if its not a registered dev ID then you're fucked either way.
Furthermore
The discussion thread on 4Chan where the advice originated has now been deleted.
No fucking shit, those threads rarely last more than 6 hours.
They're always late.
They're supposed to be.
~Instant News~ is a fucking curse

I love this kid. His videos are really funny even when you know he's trolling.
This is as bad as the time some mentioning putting an iPhone in the microwave oven will recharge it's batteries.
the even better part is that now someone made a 'fix' image, stating to copy system 32 to your xbox, delete 32 off your computer and thatll fix it because "xbox is similar to windows files" or something like that and itll use system 32 to repair itself
If you're gullible enough to believe this then you deserve a broken console. Especially seeing though Microsoft said it wasn't backwards compatible.

It's a lot less obvious than, say, the bleach + ammonia crystal one - if you don't have much of a technical understanding of this then it looks like it could even work.
