"Zootopia" is the king of this weekend's box office jungle.
The Disney (DIS) animated film brought in an estimated $73.7 million at the North American box office this weekend.
This total makes the film the biggest opening in Disney Animation Studios history, skating by "Frozen," which brought in a $67.4 million opening weekend in 2013.
To be honest, I am surprised this was the Disney movie to beat Frozen's opening weekend.
hottest movie of the year
Saw last night. Was pretty damn good. Definitely deserves it.
All that money.
Watch as they don't make another Zootopia and announce cars 8

DAS isn't Pixar.
DAS isn't Pixar.
Pixar and disney work together a lot though don't they?
replace cars with [generic shitty movie that should stop having sequals]
DAS isn't Pixar.
hilariously enough DAS doesn't have enough good properties to do endless sequels like pixar now does, which is the opposite of how it used to be with pixar coming out with endless originals because they didn't have any properties to start with
they both are run out of the same office building though, which makes the whole pixar/DAS thing even weirder
Well the membership count of Deviantart probably skyrocketed after this movie released.
i just can't fathom how someone can make such a cute character (rabbit)
seriously a new world record
I'm not even being ironic; I bet money that it's because of the furry's
Not to say it's a bad film, I haven't seen it yet, but I honestly believe that this is all because of the furrys
Absolutely loved the movie, worth the watch and has a bunch of jokes only adults will understand. :v:
Not to mention the art direction and seeing every ounce of detail the artists put into the world.
Saw it the other day, very well deserved.
[sp]pretty bummed that they didn't get Bryan Cranston or Aaron Paul for the BB scene :([/sp]

Can't wait to see what rolls into the Appreciation Station because of this.

Furries have a lot of disposable income, how else would they get those suits?
I am furry trash therefore I will watch it tomorrow cause I heard that its pretty good

Sadly it's going to be dubbed in Bulgarian. Which I bet that according to Frying Dutchman's post about there being adult jokes in there, they would be lost in translation.
Great so we're going from pre-teen angst and muh-female-empowerment dominating the public eye to furries. Guess this is at least much more amusing and the film's decent enough to warrant being the top animated film this time.

I would imagine furries are an extremely niche subgroup of this film's audience.
No, the main audience is... Children.
Which is almost as bad, really. But there are more of them.
I'd say this is closer to The Fantastic Mr. Fox or Ducktales in its depiction of anthropomorphized animals, though.

Well yeah, Disney owns Pixar. But Pixar and DAS are two different animation studios under Disney.
i really enjoyed watching this movie. well deserved numbers
UK has to wait until the 25th till it's in cinemas for some reason.
I can't wait :v:
hottest movie of the year
Found the furry.
It will be pretty funny watching people love this film and them having to make it look like they aren't closet furries at some points. The film was all cute!
Mark my words, in 5 - 8 years time, there are going to be lot more furries.

uh what. i mean frozen was a pretty decent movie too that sort of flipped the trope of disney princesses on it's head. the tech used to animate the snow in it was incredibly impressive as well. i think zootopia is a much better movie but its ok to like something if its popular you know
also the standard movie-goer doesn't really give a shit about any of those things

can attest, i don't understand how it correlates at all honestly
(although i don't do suit/irl stuff)
Hadn't even heard of it until yesterday, bad marketing?
Hadn't even heard of it until yesterday, bad marketing?
not really it's sort of been everywhere
I'm surprised. But I guess it deserved that.

There are actually people who think furries will become mainstream
