Been working a site for some time now and it's about time I got the logo fixed. I'm terrible with design (love the coding of web way more) and I want to at least have a good looking logo. The wip site can be found at tuxedogaming.com and allows people to create and attend gaming events (more info in this thread).
I'm a poor student and don't plan on making any money from the site (for now) at all so I won't be able to pay you. I will give you credit for it on the site and link your name to w/e you want. If I ever start making money from the site I will look you up and pay you a decent amount. Just don't count it.
The basic idea I had for the logo was a tuxedo or penguin. I want it to be plain and simple (no detailed stuff like eye's or textures). I believe it's called stencil art? Not sure but I hope you get a bit of an idea. Main two parts where the logo will be displayed will be the obvious big banner on the site where it says "Title/Logo here" I want to have both the text "tuxedogaming" and the logo on the right. The second bit will be at the bottom right of the page where it says "logo and copyright here" there it will be just the logo.
The width of the bottom bit is 186px height doesn't matter as long as it isn't too big. The dimensions of the big header are width:950px height:100px it needs to contain both title and logo.
I feel kinda stupid asking for something like this for free but I want to have at least something professional looking.
So if you are bored or just feeling generous please have a go.
ps: the site is currently only tested in the newest versions of chrome and firefox. It might be buggy in other browsers/older versions.
It's the style I want it to be but I don't think the colors will look good on the site. And I would like a different penguin pose. Something like

Something like this but with a tuxedo and maybe a little bit more detail. And possibly wings. The background is black so that might be a slight problem.

What do you guys think of this?

Any chance anyone feels like fixing all the mistakes I made in there?

I have to go to classes for several hours but I could try just cleaning it up in Illustrator if you like that one.

I'd love that and any chance you can make the wings go more outwards? Like I have on my site atm. But in a way it doesn't make the penguin look extremely fat?

Yeah I could try that once I get back

I'd really love it if there can be some "3d" in it. Like the photo I linked. His chest pointing forward and one arm being "behind". It also looks way too much like a duck don't you think? The neck at the back side of his head is wrong. Damn I'm shit at drawing.
Just a hasty mockup

also use a different font on your site banner, it's ugly
Like the drawing but don't think it fits as a logo :D
I'll change the font to something nice once I get a final version of the logo.

vectorized it, made it symmetrical and fixed up some of the shapes
That's great! Would it be hard to change it so it look like he's standing a bit sideways? Like in the photo? And got any idea to make it look less like a duck and more like a penguin? The shape of the head is a bit off I think. And the wings as well. I basically want the same penguin as in the photo but in black and white, no details and in a tuxedo.

Possibly taking the wrong approach here. How about you guys make something what you think fits the site. As long as it's a penguin, tuxedo or a penguin wearing a tuxedo. Any style/coloring you think fits best.

Sorry for being more than a little late. Totally forgot about this thread.
But anyways, here's a penguin with a bowtie.

It's nice but the problem is that the background is black. So you won't see the penguin.
If anyone is still interested here is a screenshot of the website.

The logo I made can be found here: http://tuxedogaming.com/img/title.png

And the problem is?
I don't know if you noticed, but it's black and white... So... As everyone does with their logos, they invert the colour if it can't be displayed as is on a black background.

But it doesn't look as good... Maybe if the black belly was white as well and just the bow tie black it might be. But I don't own nor know how to use illustrator so I'd have to do it in photoshop and probably loose it's vector thingy.

Still don't get the bid deal with pen tool being hard to use. It's so easy to learn. You just have to feel your way with it.

I don't have the time nor the motivation to learn it. I almost never do any design. It's just simple buttons and backgrounds. I might learn to use it one day but that's not now.
Pen tool is pretty easy to learn, but then there's something that happen that a beginner won't understand right away, it instead comes off after using it many times
